PRIDE OF PADDINGTON - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

O nosso primeiro Fish & Chips em Londres foi no Pride of Paddington, o pub do bairro. O nosso hotel ficava em Paddington e no primeiro dia ás três da tarde a fome era mais que muita, foi quando encontrámos este Pub que também é uma pensão, prometem camas a partir de 19 libras por noite. Foi remodelado em 2011 mas mantém o seu espírito de pub tradicional com uma carta onde o Fish & Chips, os Sunday Roast e as Shepperd Pie marcam presença.

Our first Fish & Chips in London was in the Pride of Paddington, the neighborhood pub. Our hotel was located in Paddington and on the first day at three o'clock we were starving, that's when we found this Pub which is also a pension that promises beds from 19 pounds per night. It was renovated in 2011 but retains its spirit of traditional pub with a menu in which the Fish & Chips, the Sunday Roast and Shepperd Pie are present.

CHINATOWN - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

Uma das minhas melhores memórias da primeira vez que fui a Londres (devia ter uns catorze anos) foi passar por Chinatown, parece mentira mas a verdade é que teve bastante impacto porque parecia que estava a visitar dois países em vez de um. A Chinatown que vi hoje parece-me mais "limpa" menos agitada e talvez mais comercial, mais londrina mas ainda assim podemos encontrar experiências genuínas como as barraquinhas de comida de rua ou as lojas que vendem os produtos que os chineses gostam de comprar.

 

One of my best memories of my first time I went to London (must have been about fourteen years) was going through Chinatown, seems to lie but the truth is that had quite an impact because it seemed that was visiting two countries rather than one. The Chinatown I saw today it seems "cleaner" less hectic and perhaps more commercial, more Londoner but we can still find genuine experiences such as street food stalls and shops selling products that the Chinese like to buy.

LITTLE VENICE - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

Não são muitos os que fazem o esforço para ir até á zona de Paddington para ver Little Venice, talvez por isso seja um lugar onde podes encontrar alguma tranquilidade e sossego. Parece até que saímos da cidade. Este é o lugar onde dois canais se encontram o que passa pelo Regent Park e o Grand Unión, o resultado é agradável e acolhedor com barcos que funcionam como bares, museus ou para o que foram feitos, cruzar o canal.

Not many make the effort to go up to the Paddington area to see Little Venice, so maybe that is wahy it's a place where you can find some peace and quiet. It looks as if we left the city. This is where the two channels Regent Park and the Grand Unión come together, the result is nice and cozy  place with boats that function as bars, museums or what they have been built to, cross the canal.

POPPIES FISH & CHIPS - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

Em Londres temos que comer Fish & Chips e dizem que o melhor é o do Poppies, prémios e elogios não lhe faltam. Não somos especialistas na matéria nem andámos a provar todos da cidade mas foi sem dúvida o melhor que comemos no de Spitafields, com um suculento peixe envolto numa fritura crocante com porções para gente com muita mas muita fome. Além disso o Poppies tem história, foi fundado por Pop Newland em 1952 exatamente neste bairro numa altura em que Londres ainda recuperava da II Guerra.

In London we have to eat Fish & Chips and say the best is the Poppies, awards and accolades recommend it. We are not experts in the field or we weren't tasting all of the city but it was certainly the best we eat in this on in Spitalfields, with a juicy fish wrapped in crispy fried batter with servings for people that must be very hungry. Also the Poppies has history, was founded by Pop Newland in 1952 exactly in this neighborhood at a time when London was still recovering from World War II.

HOTEL PARK GRAND LONDON PADDINGTON - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

Não foi a nossa primeira escolha de hotel, na realidade íamos ficar em casa de uns amigos e tínhamos cancelado um mais modesto e mais barato porque sabíamos que seria só para dormir, precisávamos de um minimo de conforto. Quando voltámos a marcar só por três días o hotel mais barato que encontrámos foi este e foi caro, muito caro para o que normalmente pagamos por um quarto mas dizem que Londres é assim, cara. Para nós o melhor era mesmo a localização, ficava em Paddington que estava perto de Paddington Station, Notting Hill, Little Venice, Hyde Park, Regent's Park e Marylebone.

 

It was not our first choice of hotel, in fact we were staying at the home of some friends and we canceled a more modest and cheaper because we knew we would only be sleeping, we needed a minimum of comfort. When we returned to score only three days the cheapest hotel we found was this and it was expensive, very expensive for what normally pay for a room but they say that London is so expensive. For us the best was the same location, was in Paddington that was close to Paddington Station, Notting Hill, Little Venice, Hyde Park, Regent's Park and Marylebone.

COVENT GARDEN MARKET - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

É um dos mercados mais recomendados e requisitados no centro de Londres, nós fomos ás três da tarde e os restaurantes ainda estavam a abarrotar, mesmo pelos corredores havia muita gente a ver montras. Instalado num edificio neo-clássico do século XIX recuperado nos anos oitenta para voltar a cumprir a sua função, está totalmente coberto o que permite fazer compras ou comer na sua esplanada independentemente do tempo. Nós entrámos pelo Apple Market, uma zona com pequenas bancas que vendem artesanato na sua maioria bijuteria, roupa e fotografia.

One of the most recommended and requested markets in central London, we were there at three o'clock and restaurants were still bursting, even in the corridors there were many people window shopping. Housed in a neo-classical building of the nineteenth century recovered in the eighties to return to fulfill its function, is fully covered allowing shopping or eating in its terrace whatever the weather. We entered the Apple Market, an area with small stalls selling crafts mostly jewelry, clothing and photography. 

LONDON EYE - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

A maior Ferris Wheel da Europa oferece uma vista de Londres desde os seus 135 metros de altura e dizem que a melhor altura para a visitar é ao final do dia ou durante a noite para ver as luzes da cidade. Foi inaugurada em 2000 e é patrocinada pela Coca-Cola, contém trinta e duas cápsulas bastante espaçosas, climatizadas e com informação (em vários idiomas) sobre o que estamos a ver. Isso sim é preciso encontrar o momento ideal para "embarcar" porque as filas são extensas ainda assim pela nossa experiência andam rápido.

The largest Ferris Wheel in Europe offers great views of London from its 135 meters high and say that the best time to visit is in the sunset or at night to see the city lights. It was inaugurated in 2000 and is sponsored by Coca-Cola, contains thirty-two capsules quite spacious, air conditioned and with information (in several languages) about what we are seeing. You do need to find the ideal time to "embark" because the queues are extensive but from our experience they go fast.

BURGER & LOBSTER - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

Dos primeiros sitios onde comemos em Londres foi mais que recomendado por amigos e o marido já tinha estado por isso queria repetir. O conceito é simples: têm três pratos garantido que os fazem bem o que leva a grandes filas para comer em qualquer um dos seus restaurantes do centro de Londres. Nós fomos a um novo que está no 5º andar do Harvey Nichols em Knightsbridge, tivémos que esperar uns vinte minutos para conseguir mesa mas deram-nos um pequeno equipamento electrónico que vibrou quando ficou pronta.

One of the first places we ate in London it was more than recommended by friends and my husband had already been so he wanted to repeat. The concept is simple: they have three main dishes that they make really well which leads to long lines to eat at any of its restaurants of central London. We went to a new one that is on the 5th floor of Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, had to wait about twenty minutes to get table but they gave us a small electronic equipment that vibrated when it was ready.

sleep: GUOMAN THE TOWER HOTEL - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

O Guoman the Tower Hotel não foi uma escolha minha para ficar em Londres principalmente pelo preço que tem mas foi escolhido como local para a nossa formação. Por fora não o achei particularmente bonito mas a sua localização é excelente e alguns quartos têm vista para a Tower Bridge, infelizmente não me calhou um de esses o meu tinha vista para a parte interior onde estão as docas de Sta. Catarina.

 

The Guoman Tower Hotel was not my choice to stay in London especially for the price but it was  chosen as the venue for our training. From the outside I did not found it particularly beautiful but its location is excellent and some rooms have views to the Tower Bridge, unfortunately it did not happened to me as mine overlooked the inner part where the docks of St. Catherine are.

do: TOWER HILL MEMORIAL - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

No meu passeio junto á zona do meu hotel (Guoman The Tower Hotel) cheguei a este parque de Trinity onde está o Tower Hill Memorial. Já tinha estado em alguns memoriais mas não me lembro de nenhum com esta dimensão e não falo de tamanho, falo dos cerca de trinta e seis mil nomes de homens e mulheres que morreram no mar durante a primeira e a segunda guerra mundial.

 

During my stroll close to my hotel (The Tower Guoman Hotel) I arrived to this Trinity park area where Tower Hill Memorial is. Had been in some memorials but I do not remember any of this scale and I don't speak of size but about thirty-six thousand names of men and women who died at sea during the First and Second World War.

Quando viajei até Londres para uma formação tive a sorte de ficar num hotel muito perto da Tower Bridge (Ponte da Torre) de tal maneira que aproveitei para tomar o pequeno-almoço cedo e dar um  passeio por um dos símbolos da cidade. Devo confessar que senti-me um pouco como Bridget Jones a atravessar a ponte para trabalhar com uma roupa elegante e uns ténis para que a caminhada seja mais confortável.

 

When I traveled to London for a training I was fortunate to stay in a hotel very close to Tower Bridge (Tower Bridge) so I took advantage of it had breakfast early and took a stroll through one of the symbols of the city. I must confess that I felt a bit like Bridget Jones crossing the bridge to work with stylish clothes and my tennis shoes so that my walk was more comfortable.

eat: CHIQUITO - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

Depois das compras no m&m's World decidimos comer na praça Leicester. Estávamos todos com saudades de comer comida mexicana e fomos experimentar o Chiquito, uma cadeia inglesa de comida Tex-Mex o que significa que não estamos na presença de um mexicano autêntico mas também não desiludiu, a comida era boa e as bebidas também.

After shopping at m&m's World we decided to eat in Leicester Square. We were all longing to eat Mexican food and tried Chiquito, a British chain of Tex-Mex which means that we are not in the presence of an authentic Mexican but not disappointed, the food was good and the drinks too.

Abriu em 2011 e é a quarta loja da marca de chocolates m&m's tendo como grandes protagonistas os seus personagens: Red, Yellow, Miss Green, Blue e Orange. É a maior loja de chocolates e um autêntico paraíso das compras onde podemos encontrar desde t-shirts, canecas, mochilas, pijamas e os próprios m&m's com várias cores e sabores. É muito fácil perder a cabeça ao entrar...

Opened in 2011 and is the fourth store of the chocolate brand m&m's with its major protagonists the characters: Red, Yellow, Miss Green, Blue and Orange. It is the largest chocolate shop and a true shopper's paradise where you can find everything from t-shirts, mugs, backpacks, pajamas and own m&m's with various colors and flavors. It is very easy to lose your head when entering ...

LEEDS, INGLATERRA

Chegar até Leeds é um desafio, aterrámos em Manchester e alugámos um carro para chegar até lá. Demorámos uma hora o que não é muito e conseguimos sobreviver ao facto de se conduzir do lado direito em vez do esquerdo.

Escolhemos a melhor semana para ir a Leeds a trabalho (aliás fomos a Birstall) porque foi justamente na semana passada ou seja, em plenos distúrbios em Londres e outras cidades inglesas, como a vizinha, Manchester. Surgiram rumores de que Leeds seria outra das cidades a ser atacada por grupos de delinquentes dispostos a tudo para roubar umas t-shirts de marca ou um LCD. Ainda assim saio do hotel, sozinha (os restantes preferiram descansar...) e vou explorar a cidade.

 

Getting to Leeds is a challenge, we landed in Manchester and we rented a car to get there. It took us one hour which is not much and managed to survive the fact that they drive on the right side instead of the left.
We chose the best week to go to Leeds to work (we actually went to Birstall) because it was just last week that is in full riots in London and other English cities, like neighboring Manchester. There were rumors that Leeds would be another of the cities to be attacked by groups of criminals willing to do anything to steal some t-shirts brand or an LCD. Still I left the hotel alone (the remaining preferred to rest ...) and I explored the city.
