FLASH FLASH - MADRID, ESPANHA

Hoje conhecemos o Flash Flash em Madrid. Este restaurante muito "mod" com uma inspiração anos 60/70, já esteve mais na moda que hoje em dia. Talvez eu prefira assim, sem o stress de esperar horas para ter mesa, de nem conseguir ouvir as pessoas com quem estou a jantar, etc..

 

Today we discovered the Flash Flash in Madrid. This restaurant is very "mod" with an inspiration from the 60's/70's, it used to be more in vogue nowadays. Maybe I prefer it like this, without the stress of waiting hours to have table, or not to hear the people who I'm dining with, etc..

Hoje conhecemos o "Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial", se o nome é longo imaginem o mosteiro em si. Talvez seja maior que os Jerónimos nem sei bem, não tenho noção. Depois da grande caminhada de ontem em Segóvia decidimos que eu precisava de queimar mais umas calorias e lá fomos visitar o "modesto" mosteiro, aproveitámos também o tempo mais cinzentão e fresco para o fazer.

 

Today we have discovered the "Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial", if the name is long imagine the monastery itself. Perhaps more than the Jeronimos I do not know well, I have no idea. After the long walk yesterday in Segovia we decided that I needed to burn a few more calories and we went to visit this "modest" monastery, we took advantage of the cloudy and cool day to do so.

Esta foi na realidade a primeira vez que pus os pés no Retiro e já tinha vindo a Madrid antes. A questão é que se visitamos a cidade apenas dois dias não deixa muito tempo para conhecer o Parque e apesar de termos passado aqui a manhã tenho a perfeita noção de não ter visto tudo.

Entrámos pela Porta de Espanha, viramos á direita onde encontramos El Parterre, com a sua estrutura típicamente francesa, um campo relvado ao centro coroado com uma fonte.

 

This was actually the first time I set foot in retreat and had already been to Madrid before. The issue is that when you visite the city just two days it does not leave much time to explore the park and despite having spent the morning here I have the perfect notion of not having seen everything.
We entered by the Door of Spain, turned to the right where we found El Parterre with its typically French structure, a lawn field and the center is crowned with a fountain.

MAYURA - CASCAIS, PORTUGAL

Hoje conhecemos...o restaurante indiano Mayura em Cascais.

Eu admito: comida indiana não era bem a minha onda. Isto até eu descobrir que nos indianos se serve uma maravilha chamada: pão Naan, ou melhor "garlic" naan.  Por mim só ia a um para comer pão Naan, como entrada, como prato principal e também como sobremesa. Já seria uma moça feliz!

Today we have discovered the indian restaurant: Mayura. I must admit that indian food is not really my thing. Well at least until I found they have a great thing called: Naan bread or better yet Garlic Naan bread. I would be very happy to eat it as a starter, a main and dessert!

Hoje conhecemos...o Santini remodelado.

Há algum tempo que não ia a Cascais ao Santini e foi uma agradável surpresa entrar na gelataria que marcou para sempre a minha infância e as minhas férias de Verão para a encontrar com esta nova decoração.

 

Today we have discovered... the refurbished Santini.
It has been a while since I went to Cascais and visit Santini , it was a pleasant surprise to enter this ice cream parlor that marked my childhood and my summer vacation forever to see it with the new decor.

CABO DA ROCA - SINTRA, PORTUGAL

Hoje conhecemos...o ponto mais ocidental da Europa - o Cabo da Roca. Estava um dia extraordinário de sol e decidimos um passeio de mota sendo este o nosso destino. Normalmente é um ponto de encontro para os "motards" mas vi muito menos do que habitualmente se podía ver a circular por estas bandas. Visitar o Cabo da Roca serve para relaxar e aproveitar a fantástica vista que proporciona da nossa costa.

 

Today we have discovered... the westernmost extend of mainland Portugal and also of Europe - Cabo da Roca. It was an extraordinary sunny day and we decided on a bike ride making this place has our destination. Usually it is a meeting place for "bikers" but I saw much less than usual that can be seen riding in this area. Visiting the Cabo da Roca is good to relax and enjoy the fantastic view it provides of our coastline.

PALÁCIO MONSERRATE - SINTRA, PORTUGAL

Propriedade de Sir Francis Cook, foi construído no século XIX e é sem dúvida dos palácios mais bonitos e românticos de Sintra. Talvez não seja o mais imponente mas olhando para todos os pormenores percebemos a sua verdadeira grandeza. Nota-se a influência das viagens a negócio de Sir Cook em pormenores arquitectónicos, já que mantinha negócios na Europa e no Médio Oriente. É uma visita imprescindível em Sintra.

 

Owned by Sir Francis Cook, it was built in the nineteenth century and is undoubtedly one the most beautiful and romantic palaces of Sintra. Perhaps not the most imposing but looking at all the details one realizes its true greatness. Note the influence of trips to Sir Cook business in architectural details, as had business in Europe and the Middle East. It is a must see in Sintra.
