TORRE E PRAÇA PEY-BERLAND - BORDÉUS, FRANÇA

É uma das principais praças da cidade de Bordéus e muitas das ruas adjacentes são importantes principalmente em termos de comércio e movimento. O que primeiro chama a atenção assim que entramos na praça é a Torre Pey-Berland que está junto á Catedral. A torre tem o nome do arcebispo da cidade, Pierre Berland e foi ele que iniciou a construção da mesma. No topo uma faustosa estátua dourada da Nossa Senhora da Aquitânia.

It is one of the main squares of the city of Bordeaux and many of the surrounding streets are important mainly in trade and movement. What first catches the eye as soon as we entered the square is the Pey-Berland tower that is next to the Cathedral. The tower is named after the city's Archbishop Pierre Berland and it was he who initiated the construction of the same. At the top one the sumptuous golden statue of Our Lady of Aquitaine.

PLACE DE LA BOURSE - BORDÉUS, FRANÇA

Quando planeávamos a nossa "road-trip" a França lembro-me de pesquisar na internet sobre Bordéus e uma das primeiras fotos que vi foi a desta praça. Era uma foto nocturna com o reflexo da praça e do eléctrico no espelho de água que está em frente, sabíamos que tínhamos de passar ali e tentar que a nossa câmara (e os nossos olhos) capturasse a mesma imagen.

O nosso plano só teve um problema, fomos durante o dia e não podíamos ficar para o cair da noite. Uma pena mas a verdade é que conseguimos aproveitar muito bem Bordéus e esta belíssima praça com arquitectura do século XVIII.

When we planned our road-trip to France I remember searching the internet about Bordeaux and one of the first pictures I saw was this square. It was a night photo with the reflection of the square and the tram in the mirror of water that is ahead, we knew we had to go there and try to get our camera (and our eyes) to capture the same image.
Our plan had only one problem, we went there during the day and we could not stay for the evening. A shame but the truth is that we could enjoy Bordeaux and this beautiful square with eighteenth-century architecture.

RUE SAINTE-CATHERINE - BORDÉUS, FRANÇA

Subíamos pela Cours Vitor Hugo quando vimos uma rua pedestre com bastante comércio e cheia de gente, estávamos na famosa Rue Saint-Catherine, a meca das compras em Bordéus.

Aqui podemos encontrar todo o tipo de lojas como esta que se chamava Cobra onde se pode comprar os mais "belos" fatos de gala e podemos garantir que não era a única a vender pechinchas.

 

We were walking up the Cours Victor Hugo when we saw a pedestrian street with lots of stores and crowded, we were on the famous Rue Saint-Catherine, the shopping mecca of Bordeaux.
Here you can find all kind of shops like this that was called Cobra where you can buy the most "beautiful" gala suits and we can guarantee that it was not the only selling bargains.

LA CUB BICICLETA - BORDÉUS, FRANÇA

 

Também em Bordéus há uma rede de bicicletas de aluguer como a que conhecemos em Paris.

Já são muito conhecidas as vantagens deste meio de transporte principalmente neste tipo de rede em que "estacionar" é muito fácil e não temos que nos preocupar se vamos ficar sem as bicicletas ou não porque a partir do momento em que estão encaixadas no posto deixam de ser da nossa responsabilidade.

 

Also in Bordeaux is a bike rental network as the one we saw in Paris.
The advantages of this transportation are already well-known especially in this kind of system where parking is very easy and you don't have to worry if the bike disappears or  because from the moment they are engaged in post it's no longer our responsibility.

Gostava de começar este post a dizer que conhecemos a Casa da Joana D'Arc em Orleães, mas na realidade só a vimos por fora, isto porque até dia 30 de Abril só abre a partir das 14h para visitas, eram 10h da manhã quando lá passámos e nesta nossa "road trip" não podíamos ficar muito mais tempo.

 

I'd have liked to start this post saying that we have discovered the House of Joan of Arc in Orleans, but in reality we only saw it's exterior, because until April 30th it's only open from 14h to visits, it was 10 am when we went there and our road trip wouldn't allow us to stay longer.

do: CHAMPS ÉLYSÉES - PARIS, FRANÇA

Desde a Praça da Concórdia até á Praça Charles de Gaulle (onde está o Arco do Triunfo), vão quase dois quilómetros de avenida a que chamam a mais bela do mundo. Foi a segunda vez que a percorri ainda que com uns 13 anos de distância e continua a impressionar, pelo número de pessoas que passam por ali, pela dimensão e tipo de lojas, pela arquitectura dos edificios em que o luxo começa logo nos portões trabalhados.

 

From the Place de la Concorde to the Place Charles de Gaulle (where the Arc de Triomphe is), it's almost two miles of avenue that they call the world's most beautiful. It was the second time that I walked through it with a 13 years distance and it continues to impress, the number of people that walk through it, the size and type of shops, the architecture of the buildings where the luxury starts right at their decorated gates.

eat: CAFÉ PAUL - PARIS, FRANÇA

Tínhamos acabado de entrar na avenida dos Campos Elisios, “estacionámos” as bicicletas e procurávamos um sitio para lanchar, a fome apertava e pedalar ainda nos fazia sentir mais vontade de comer.

Entrámos no Paul da Avenue Franklin Roosevelt por acaso, tinha excelente aspecto, com uma esplanada óptima e decidimos ficar por ali. Assim que vimos a montra dos bolos deu-me vontade de comer tudo, levar uma caixa dos famosos macarons mas conseguimos resistir.

 

We had just entered the Avenue des Champs Élysées, we "parked"  our bikes and start looking for a place to have a snack, we were starving and riding the bike made us feel more like eating.
We entered Paul's in the Avenue Franklin Roosevelt by chance, it looked great, with a nice terrace and decided to stay there. Once we saw the cakes window it made ​​me want to eat everything, buy a box of the famous macarons but we were able to resist.
