eat: PECADITOS - BURGOS, ESPANHA

A caminho de casa, no percurso Bilbao-Madrid decidimos parar em Burgos. Era uma paragem para comer, disfrutar de um bom restaurante mas sendo a nossa primeira vez na cidade decidimos fazer a coisa de outra maneira: almoçamos rápido e vamos conhecê-la.

Daí a nossa escolha do Pecaditos para comer, na realidade foi mais "picotear" porque é como o 100 Montaditos, é um bar de tapeio e nada mais. Vínhamos da Plaza Mayor e entrámos pela Calle Sombrereria onde o encontrámos. Ficar lá fora não era opção, o dia estava convidativo mas as mesas não tinham cadeiras e no meu actual estado, precisava sentar-me. 

On the way home, the Bilbao-Madrid route we decided to stop in Burgos. It was a stop to eat, enjoy a good restaurant but being our first time in the city we decided to do it another way: quick lunch and get to know it.
Hence our choice to eat in Pecaditos actually was more "picotear" (snacking) because it's like 100 Montaditos, it's a tapas bar and nothing else. We came from the Plaza Mayor and entered the Calle Sombrerería where we found it. Being outside was not option, the weather was inviting there were tables and no chairs and in my current state, I needed to sit down.

do: PLAYA DE LA MALVAROSSA - VALÊNCIA, ESPANHA

Tem quase 2Km de areal e é uma das praias de Valência mais concorridas no Verão, principalmente agora com uma ligação AVE (alta-velocidade) de Madrid a Valência em menos de 2 horas de viagem (de carro são umas três horas e meia).

A sua proximidade ao centro da cidade são outro dos factores que a fazem encher. A areia é clarinha e fina, já a água não podemos dizer nem quanto a temperatura nem quanto a limpeza porque tendo ido no Inverno não nos atrevemos sequer aproximar.

Has almost 2km of beach and is one of the most crowded beaches of Valencia in the summer, especially now with the AVE (high-speed) connection from Madrid to Valencia in less than 2 hours of travel (by car it is about three and a half hours).
Its proximity to the city center are other factors that make it be packed. The sand is clear and thin, the wáter I can not say about neither the temperature or how much clear it is as having gone in winter we dare not even approach it.

Esta praça é sem dúvida um dos locais mais importantes e mais concorridos da cidade, não só pelo facto de ser aqui que funciona o Parlamento Grego mas também porque há sua volta, elegantes edificios albergam hotéis de luxo e empresas.

Syntagma significa a constituição de Grécia, outro factor que explica bem a sua importancia.

 

This square is undoubtedly one of the most important and busiest in the city, not only because it is here that the Greek Parliament is but also because around it you find elegant buildings housing luxury hotels and companies.
Syntagma means the constitution of Greece, another factor that explains well its importance.

do: PÁTIO DE LOS NARANJOS CATEDRAL - CÓRDOBA, ESPANHA

Quando visitámos a cidade de Córdoba foi numa das datas de maior afluência de turistas á cidade: a festa dos pátios em Maio. Além disso fomos a um casamento assim que o nosso tempo era limitado, foi impossível visitar o interior da Catedral e da famosa Mesquita de Córdoba ficámo-nos pelo seu pátio, o que chamam de los Naranjos.

As laranjeiras seriam por isso as estrelas do pátio mas todo o seu entorno e arquitectura já suficiente para se perder algum tempo a explorá-lo.

Dizem que a beleza de Córdoba vem do facto de durante anos três religiões terem conseguido conviver na mesma cidade num exemplo de tolerância: a cristã, a judia e muçulmana. Só isso explica porque uma mesquita está dentro de uma catedral e o bairro judío ao lado.

Também conhecido como o Bairro Branco,a Juderia como lhe chamam é composta por estreitas ruas de casas caiadas e quando o calor andaluz aperta, este é um dos seus bairros mais frescos.

 

They say that Cordoba's beauty comes from the fact that during years three religions have managed to live in the same city in an example of tolerance: Christian, Jewish and Muslim. Only this explains why a mosque is inside a cathedral and the adjacent neighborhood is jewish.
Also known as the White Town, the Juderia as they call it consists of narrow streets of whitewashed houses and when the Andalusian heat presses, this is one of its coolest neighborhoods.

GROENPLAATS - ANTUÉRPIA, BÉLGICA

A Groenplaats ou a Praça Verde é uma das mais importantes da cidade e está no coração do seu centro histórico, não chegámos a perceber porque é que se chama Verde porque na realidade havia pouco arvoredo ou algo que se assemelhasse a um jardim que a fizesse ganhar esse nome.

Como chegámos de noite grande parte da visita a fizémos já o sol nos tinha deixado á muito mas nem por isso a praça perdeu o interesse, a Catedral iluminada e as decorações de Natal iam mantendo a animação.

The Groenplaats or Green Square is one of the most important in the city and is at the heart of its historic center, we arrived and could not understand why it is called Green because in reality there was little grove or something that resembled a garden that made it gain that name.
As we arrived at night much of the visit was made with the sun long gone but by no means the square lost interest, the illuminated Cathedral and the Christmas decorations were keeping the animation.

CATEDRAL DE NOSSA SENHORA - ANTUÉRPIA, BÉLGICA

 

A primeira vez que vimos a Catedral foi durante a noite, parecia ser a estrela de Antuérpia, alta e iluminada. Quando de manhã voltámos á mesma praça para a ver tinha outro encanto.

De estilo gótico, demorou cerca de 170 anos a ser construída e até aos dias de hoje não está completa. Nos planos originais estavam previstas duas torres mas completa só vemos uma com 123 metros de altura, a que está ao seu lado tem apenas 65 metros.

The first time we saw the Cathedral was during the night, seemed to be the star of Antwerp, high and full of light. In the morning we returned to the square will see had another charm.
