O Paseo de la Concha faz parte do extenso passeio marítimo da cidade de San Sebastián que liga o Monte Urgull e o Monte Igueldo.

O da Concha é o que segue a linha da praia com o mesmo nome partindo da Câmara Municipal e termina junto ao túnel novo, zona onde inicia o Paseo de Miramar e depois o de Ondarreta que leva até ao monte Igueldo.

The Paseo de la Concha is part of the extensive promenade of the city of San Sebastián linking Mount Urgull and Mount Igueldo.
The Concha is the one that follows the line of the beach with the same name, starts from the Ayuntamiento and ends near the new tunnel area where the Paseo Miramar starts and then Ondarreta that leads to Mount Igueldo.

A Catedral de Nîmes tem o nome de Catedral de Nossa Senhora e São Castor de Apt, um santo que nasceu na cidade e mais tarde se tornou bispo de Apt.
A construção original data do século XI e dizem que ocupa agora o local onde antigamente estaria um templo dedicado ao imperador romano Augustus.
Com as reconstruções que sofreu ao largo dos anos tem hoje dois estilos: o românico e o gótico. A mais clara evidência do primeiro é o seu campanário construído no século XIV.

The Nimes Cathedral is called the Cathedral of Our Lady and Saint Castor of Apt, a saint who was born in the city and later became bishop of Apt.
The original building dates from the eleventh century and it now occupies the place where once was a temple dedicated to the Roman emperor Augustus.
With the reconstructions it suffered thoughout the years it now has two styles: Romanesque and Gothic. The clearest evidence of the first is its belfry built in the fourteenth century.

do: RUE DE LA RÉPUBLIQUE - LYON, FRANÇA

É uma rua que vai desde a Place Louis Pradel até a Place de Bellecour, famosa por ser um dos "centros" comerciais da cidade Lyon. Para percorrê-la na totalidade seria um longo mas interessante trajecto nós fizémos a parte final que vai desde a Place de la Repúblique até a Bellecour.

Ainda que pequeno, foi sem dúvida interessante por alguns edificios que vimos. Um deles foi o de estilo Art Déco que alberga os dos cinemas Pathé. Estávamos acostumados a ver o símbolo do galo dourado no inicio dos filmes que não associávamos que tivessem salas de cinema próprias, aqui está a prova, para além de produtores são também distribuidores.

It is a street that goes from the Place Louis Pradel to Place Bellecour, famous for being one of the shopping "centre" of the city Lyon. To go through it in its entirety would be a long but interesting journey we made the final part that goes from the Place de la République to Bellecour.
Though small, it was certainly interesting for a few buildings we saw. One was the Art Deco style which houses the Pathé cinemas. We used to see the symbol of the golden rooster in the beginning of movies but we had not associated it with the cinemas themselves, here's the proof, in addition to producers they are also distributors.

do: PLACE DE LA REPUBLIQUE - LYON, FRANÇA

Localizada na zona de Presqu'île, esta ampla praça teve antes do século XIX outro nome: Place Impériale. Rodeada de elegantes edificios, a praça tem ao centro uma fonte rectangular que segundo dizem tem repuxos que funcionam mas no dia em que fomos não vimos nenhum a funcionar. Numa das esquinas está o edificio do Hotel Carlton, um dos mais requintados da cidade. 

Located in the Presqu'ile district, this large square had another name before the nineteenth century: Place Imperiale. Surrounded by elegant buildings, the square has a rectangular fountain in the center that they say it works but on the day that we were there haven't seen any running. In one corner is the building of the Hotel Carlton, one of the finest in the city.

do: PALAIS-ROYAL - PARIS, FRANÇA

Situado a norte do Louvre, o Palácio Real é hoje a sede do Conselho de Estado mas desde da sua construção no século XVII que importantes figuras da história francesa passaram por ele nomeadamente o Cardeal Richelieu. Na realidade antes de ser o Palais-Royal foi o Palais-Cardinal.

Ao longo dos séculos teve várias utilizações, após a morte do Cardeal Richelieu foi a residência do jovem Luís XIV o futuro Rei de França. Mais tarde e na era Orleães foi palco de luxuosas festas e era um local de jogo, função que continuou a ter até ao século XIX quando se tornou na sede do Conselho de Estado. Numa parte do palácio está o Ministério da Cultura. 

 

Located north of the Louvre, the Royal Palace is now the seat of the Council of State but since it was built in the seventeenth century that important figures in French history were in it including Cardinal Richelieu. In fact prior to the Palais-Royal it was the Palais-Cardinal.
Over the centuries it had various uses, after the death of Cardinal Richelieu it was the residence of the young future King Louis XIV of France. Later in the Orleans era was the stage of luxurious parties and a gambling site, which continued to work until the nineteenth century when it became the seat of the Council of State. In one part of the palace is the Ministry of Culture.

No nosso passeio de bicicleta por Paris passámos por esta praça circular rodeada de elegantes edificios e ao centro vimos uma estátua equestre que mais tarde percebemos ser do Rei Luís IV, o famoso Rei Sol.

O actual monumento ao monarca foi construído em 1828, mas o original que era do século XVII que foi construído juntamente com a praça e os seus edificios foi destruído durante a Revolução Francesa. Ao centro ergueram-se outros monumentos até que D. Carlos X ordenou a construção de uma estátua em honra ao famoso Rei Sol.

On our bike ride through Paris we passed by this circular plaza surrounded by elegant buildings and in the center we saw the equestrian statue that later we realized to be of King Louis IV, the famous Sun King
The current monument to the monarch was built in 1828, but the original was from the seventeenth century it was built along with the square and its buildings were destroyed during the French Revolution. In the center other monuments were placed here until D. Charles X ordered the construction of a statue in honor of the famous Sun King.

Com uma entrada apenas, cortesia do Roma Pass visitámos o Palatino e o Fórum Romano. Tanto um como o outro são um verdadeiro desafio para entender o que estamos a ver, aqui o aconselhável é levar um bom guia, a Lonely Planet por exemplo tem um dentro do guia de Roma que ajuda a entender melhor o que estamos a ver quando olhamos para alguma ruína do Fórum Romano.

With only one ticket, courtesy of Roma Pass visited the Palatine and Roman Forum.
