do: PRAÇA DO MUNICíPIO - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

São muitas as cidades europeias cuja praça onde se localiza a sua câmara municipal é a mais importante ou a mais grandiosa, não é o caso da modesta Praça do Município de Lisboa. É pequena e talvez não seja das mais interessantes da cidade, o Rossio, o Terreiro do Paço e até a Praça da Figueira acabam por ser mais emblemáticas.

Ainda assim é nela que podemos ver os Paços do Concelho ou seja, a Câmara Municipal instalada num edificio neo-clássico. Ao centro está o pelourinho construído após o terramoto no século XVIII.

In many european cities the square that has the town hall is usually the most important or the most magnificent, it is not the case with modest square of the city of Lisbon. It is small and perhaps not the most interesting city, the Rossio, the Terreiro do Paço and Figueira Square end up being the most iconic.
Yet it is here that we see the Town Hall or the City Council installed in a neo-classical building. At the center is the pillory built after the earthquake in the eighteenth century.

do: MOURARIA - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

Mouraria é um bairro lisboeta situado entre o Martim Moniz e o Castelo de S. Jorge. Foi nele que ficaram os mouros após a conquista da cidade por parte de D. Afonso Henriques mas hoje é dia o bairro é mais conhecido como o berço do Fado.

Outrora um bairro mais problemático hoje podemos vê-lo com outra cara, algumas fachadas foram recuperadas mas outras ajudam a manter o espírito "decadente" que tanto agrada a quem o visita e lhe dá o seu cunho de identidade. Continua a manter o seu espírito de bairro alfacinha, é um local multicultural e diria também de diferentes gerações.

The Mouraria (moorish quarter) is a Lisbon neighborhood located between Martim Moniz and the Castle of S. Jorge. In it stayed the Moors who remained after the conquest of the city by D. Afonso Henriques but today the neighborhood is best known as the birthplace of Fado.
Once a neighborhood more problematic today we see it with another face, some facades were recovered but others help keep the spirit of "decadent" that both appeals to those who visit and gives it's identity stamp. It continues to maintain its spirit of neighborhood, is a multicultural place and of I would say, also different generations.

do: PARQUE EUROPA - TORREJÓN DE ARDOZ, ESPANHA

O Parque Europa fica em Torrejón de Ardoz a uns trinta minutos de Madrid. Para chegar até ele é aconselhável GPS porque na realidade pareceu-nos mal sinalizado. Como o nome indica é dedicado á Europa com réplicas de importantes monumentos de vários países do velho continente e da União Europeia.

O estacionamento é feito por parquímetros, 3€ representam 6 horas de estacionamento. Há pelo o que percebi mais que uma entrada, nós entrámos pela a que tinha a réplica da Porta de Bradenburgo (Berlim) mas vimos outra junto á Porta de Alcalá (Madrid).

 

The Europe Park in Torrejon de Ardoz is about thirty minutes from Madrid. To reach it is advisable to use GPS because in reality it seemed poorly signposted. As the name indicates is dedicated to Europe with replicas of important monuments from various countries of the old continent and the European Union.
Parking is done with meters, 6 hours cost 3€. There are at what I noticed more than one entry, the one we entered had a replica of the Brandenburg Gate (Berlin) but I saw another near the Puerta de Alcalá (Madrid).

LATERAL - MADRID, ESPANHA

Finalmente a Lateral tem direito a um post. A cadeia de restaurantes continua a fazer sucesso em Madrid e agora tem nova localização na Castellana (o segundo restaurante) no número 42 e com uma excelente esplanada.

Creio que já "picámos" em todas, a primeira (para nós) foi na Arturo Soria, depois a Velazquez, também há uma na Fuencarral, a da Plaza de Santa Ana tem uma excelente esplanada também e tínhamos também ido á outra da Castellana, assim que sem grande curiosidade quanto ao menú mas muita quanto ao espaço fomos almoçar á última abertura do grupo.

STADHUIS - BRUGES, BÉLGICA

O Stadhuis foi construído em 1376 e é um dos edificios mais marcantes da praça de Burg. A sua fachada é impressionante com todo o trabalho das esculturas (algumas religiosas mas na sua maioria de governantes de Flandres) e as suas janelas em forma de ogiva, claro indicador do seu estilo gótico.

Entrámos sem grande expectativa para o que íamos ver e fomos realmente surpreendidos. O seu exterior é magnifico mas o que está dentro deixou-nos de boca aberta. A entrada custa 2,5€ e temos direito a um audio guia, nós escolhemos em inglês.

The Stadhuis was built in 1376 and is one of the most remarkable buildings of the Burg Square. Its facade is impressive with all the work of the sculptures (some religious but mostly rulers of Flanders) and its ogival windows, a clear indicator of its Gothic style.We went without great expectation and we were really surprised. Its exterior is magnificent but what's inside left us open-mouthed. Admission is € 2.5 and we are entitled to an audio guide, we chose English.

ROZENHOEDKAAI - BRUGES, BÉLGICA

Creio que traduzido daria doca do Rosário e é talvez um dos pontos que mais gente atrai na cidade. Não há guia ou reportagem fotográfica de Bruges que não fique completa sem uma imagem deste ponto com vista para o canal e para o Belfort.

É um local priveligiado para capturar a essência da cidade.

Este é o ponto de partida para uma visita de barco por Bruges, vemos o amontoado de gente que espera ansiosamente pela sua vez. Tínhamos um dia apenas na cidade e sem marcação prévia não podíamos esperar de qualquer forma numa outra oportunidade em Bruges será o primeiro que queremos fazer.

I think that translated it would be Rosario's dock is perhaps one of the points which attracts more people in the city. No guide or photographic report of Bruges will ever be complete without a picture from this point overlooking the canal and the Belfort.It is a privileged place to capture the essence of the city.This is the starting point for a visit to Bruges by boat, we see the mass of people anxiously waiting for their turn. We had only one day in the city and without prior appointment we could not wait for a spot in a boat, any way another time in Bruges will be the first we want to do.

MARKT - BRUGES, BÉLGICA

Os oitenta e três metros de altura do Belfort ajudam a localizar sem problemas a Praça do Mercado - Markt que juntamente com a Burg são as duas praças mais importantes da cidade e símbolos de uma época de grande prosperidade.

Há mais de mil anos funcionava aqui um mercado semanal hoje em dia podemos ver que ainda está ligada ao comércio, todas as quartas-feiras há um mercado que promove os produtos da região.

Funcionava como o seu principal centro comercial na época medieval e á sua volta podemos ver vários "guildhalls" - edificios que foram construídos para cada oficio e que hoje em dia albergam essas lojas e cafés. 

The eighty three meters high Belfort helps you find without problems the Market Square (Markt) that together with the Burg are the two most important squares of the city and the symbols of an era of great prosperity,

A thousand years ago a weekly market was held here today we can see that it's still linked to the trade, every Wednesday there's a market that promotes the product of this region.

It was it's main commercial center in medieval times and surrounding it you can see  several "guildhalls" - buildings that were built for each trade and today house stores and cafés.
