eat: TXIRIMIRI - MADRID, ESPANHA

Assim que entras, do lado direito está uma parede com uma fotografia das esculturas de ferro de Eduardo Chillida, o Peine del Viento. Elas são um dos símbolos de San Sebastián o que quer dizer que quando entras no Txirimiri será para comer pinchos e tapas como se estivesses nessa cidade do norte de Espanha.

 

As soon as you get in, on your right side there's a wall with a picture of the iron sculputures of Eduardo Chillida, the "Peine del Viento". They are one of the symbols of San Sebastián which means that when you get into Txirimiri is to eat the pinchos and tapas like you were in that city of the north of Spain.

Desde que abriu ao público tinha muita curiosidade de visitar o Centro Centro principalmente porque está dentro do Palácio de Cibeles, o antigo Palácio das Comunicações e a sede do Ayuntamiento de Madrid.

Com este novo espaço Madrid amplia a sua oferta cultural na cidade e ainda para mais gratuita. É um espaço multiusos com uma zona que conta a história do Palácio, exposições de arte ou fotografia, espaços de lazer para miúdos e graúdos, zonas de trabalho, zonas de leitura e um fantástico mirador.

 

Since it open to the public I was curious to visit the Centro Centro specially because it inside the Cibeles Palace, former Comunications Palace and the headquarters of the City hall.

With this new space Madrid extendes it's cultural offer and for free. It is a multifunction place with an area that tells you the history of the Palace, art and photography exhibitions, leisure rooms for kids and grown ups, working and reading areas and also an amazing viewpoint.

eat: REAL CAKE - MADRID, ESPANHA

Boas noticias: já não temos que fazer mais de 650kms para comer um bom pastel de nata. Já os vendem aqui em Madrid na Real Cake que fica na Calle Goya em pleno bairro de Salamanca.

Uma amiga nossa já nos tinha falado deles mas foi aqui que soube onde ficam: Madrid Cool Blog.

 

Good news: we don't have to do 650kms to eat a good "pastel de nata" (portuguese custard cake). They're sold here in Madrid in the Real Cake that it is in Calle Goya in the Salamanca neighborhood.

One friend already had told us about it but it was here that I found out where they sell them: Madrid Cool Blog.

MERCADO DE NATAL - BRUGES, BÉLGICA

Chegámos a um dos objectivos da nossa viagem á Bélgica: o Mercado de Natal em Bruges. Dizem que é um dos melhores do país, não posso confirmar porque não conheço a concorrência mas é sem dúvida o que esperava encontrar, um sitio animado cheio de gente, comida, bebida e um entorno fantástico proporcionado pela Markt onde estão alguns dos edificios mais emblemáticos de Bruges.

We have arrived to one of our destinations in Belgium: the Christmas Market in Bruges. They say it's one of the best in the country, I couldn't confirm that because I don't know it's competition but it is without a doubt what I expected, a lively place crowded, food, drinks and a fantastic surroundings provided by the Markt where some of the most emblematic buildings in Bruges are located.

shop: MERCADO DE NATAL - LUXEMBURGO

De passagem por Luxemburgo não podíamos deixar de visitar o seu Mercado de Natal. Fica na Place d'Arms e faz parte de uma lista  de mercados que fica aberto mesmo depois do dia 25 de Dezembro.

Tem aquele charme do tradicional mercado de Natal do Norte da Europa mas com um ambiente mais simpático e diria até familiar. Fomos com um local o que nos ajudou a conhecer algumas das tradições do Luxemburgo que se reflectem também neste evento.

 

Passing through Luxembourg we couldn't go without visiting it's Christmas Market. It's located in the Place d'Arms and it's part of a market's list that is open even after the 25th of December.

It has the traditional charms of a northern Europe market but with a nicer mood and I would say, more familiar. We went with a local that helped us understand some of the Luxembourg's traditions that also reflect on this event.

do: MIRADOURO DO PALÁCIO DE CIBELES - MADRID, ESPANHA

Depois das obras de remodelação o Palácio de Cibeles abriu ao público em Março de 2011, continua a ser a sede do Ayuntamiento de Madrid mas passou a ser um importante espaço cultural (gratuito) da cidade, com várias zonas de lazer, de leitura e trabalho para além de um dos seus maiores atractivos: o miradouro.

 

After it's refurbishment the Cibeles Palace opened to the public in March 2011, it remains the headquarters of the Ayuntamiento de Madrid but became one of the most important cultural venues (free) in the city, with several recreational, reading and work areas in addition to one of its biggest attractions: the belvedere.

eat: HARINA - MADRID, ESPANHA

Quando cheguei a Madrid este foi dos primeiros sitios onde fui lanchar. Ao ver que tinham aberto outro harina perto da Fuencarral decidi que quando pudesse voltaria ali tudo porque na altura me tinham prometido um delicioso bolo de cenoura e quando lá chegámos não havia levando-nos a provar outra coisa.

Mas a harina não é famosa pelos seus bolos mas sim por ser uma padaria artesanal. Ao ler mais sobre a sua proprietária, Carmen Baudin fiquei com mais vontade de lá voltar.

 

When I arrived in Madrid this was one of the first places I visited. Seeing that they opened another one close to Fuencarral I decided that we I had time I would go back all because at the time I was promised a delicious carrot cake that upon our arrival it had finished so we had something else.

But harina is not only famous for it's cakes but for being an artisanal bakery. Reading more about it's owner, Carmen Baudin I had to go back.
