eat: REVOLTOSA - MADRID, ESPANHA

Tivémos direito a um dia livre sem os miúdos e decidimos ir ao Museu Thyssen, o único que nos faltava do famoso triângulo de museus ao qual se junta o Reina Sofia e o Prado.

Para aproveitarmos o tempo ao máximo fomos cedo até Madrid e em vez de almoçar porque era cedo decidimos procurar um restaurante com "brunch" e assim chegámos ao Revoltosa que fica na Plaza del Rey perto da Gran Vía e do Instituto Cervantes.

 

We had a day off without the kids and we went to the Thyssen Museum, the only one missing in the famous triangle of museums which has the Reina Sofia and the Prado.
To take maximum advantage of our time in Madrid we went up early and instead of lunch because it was soon  we decided to find a restaurant with "brunch" and so we found the Revoltosa which is in Plaza del Rey near the Gran Vía and the Instituto Cervantes.

eat: PASTELARIA MERCEDES MORA - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, ESPANHA

 

Mesmo depois de um bom almoço no Dezaseis a montra da pastelaria Mora despertou uma fome que não sabíamos que existia (também conhecida por gula). Entrámos e já não saímos sem comer algo, mas o quê?

Havia de tudo desde a típica Tarta de Santiago passando por cookies ou croissants. Mas foram mesmo as "caracolas" que nos fizeram sentar, pedir um chá e aconchegar o estômago que pedia uma guloseima.

 

Even after a good lunch at the Dezaseis the window of the Mora pastry shop awoke a hunger that we did not know it existed (aka gluttany). We got in and didn't leave without eating something, but what?
There was everything from the typical Tarta de Santiago through cookies or croissants. But it was the "Caracolas" that made us sit down, order a tea and tuck the stomach that was calling for a treat.

eat: EL BUEY - BOADILLA DEL MONTE, ESPANHA

Para quem trabalha na zona de Boadilla del Monte o El Buey não é nenhum desconhecido. Quando podes dar-te ao luxo de comer bem sem te importar muito quanto vais pagar este é o sitio que escolhes. Não que seja muito caro mas barato não é de certeza.

Tal como o nome indica, a carne é a sua especialidade e foi por isso que fomos.

 

For those who work in the area of the El Monte Boadilla, El Buey is no stranger. When you can give yourself the luxury of eating well without much care of how much you're going to pay this is the place that you can choose. Not that it is very expensive but is certainly not cheap.
As the name implies, beef is their specialty and that's why we went.

eat: CASA BAIZAN - GIJÓN, ESPANHA

Passeávamos por Oviedo quando decidimos ir jantar a Gijón, assim de fácil! Difícil foi mesmo escolher o sitio para comer.

Antes de estacionar passámos por umas ruas agitadas com pessoas espalhadas por estreitas ruas com alguns bares, pensámos logo que era ali que tínhamos que ir para jantar. Não estávamos enganados é de facto uma zona muito boa para escolher um sitio para comer com o único problema de que estava tudo cheio. Só á segunda volta conseguimos sentar-nos na Casa Baizan no número 3 da Linares Rivas.

 

We were walking in Oviedo when we decided to go have dinner in Gijón, that easy! Difficult was to choose the same place to eat.
Before parking we went through some busy streets with people across the narrow streets with a few bars, we thought immediately that this was where we had to go to dinner. We were not mistaken it's in fact a very good area to choose a place to eat with the only problem that everything was full. At our second try we were able to get a seat in the Casa Baizan at number 3 Linares Rivas Street.

do: PLAYA DE SAN TELMO - PUERTO DE LA CRUZ, ESPANHA

O bom tempo é sempre uma boa influência quando vais passear a algum lado, quando chove, está nublado, ou faz muito vento isso altera completamente a experiência que tens ao conhecer um lugar. Creio que foi isso que me aconteceu ao ver a Praia de S. Telmo, também é certo que eu não sou uma grande fã das praias de areia negra mas até seria capaz de experimentar se as águas assim o permitissem.

 

Good weather is always a good influence when you are talking a walk somewhere, when it rains, is cloudy, windy or it completely changes the experience that you have to know a place. I think that's what happened to me when I saw the S. Telmo beach, it is also true that I'm not a big fan of black sand beaches but I would have liked to try the water if they allowed it too.

do: ERMITA DE S.JUAN BAUTISTA E IGLESIA DE S. FRANCISCO - PUERTO DE LA CRUZ, ESPANHA

Não poderia fazer um post da Ermida separada da Igreja porque na realidade essa separação não existe. São duas portas, dois nomes diferentes mas ao entrar podes ver as duas. Não encontrei muito informação sobre elas mas do que pude ler faziam parte de um convento franciscano, antes disso a Ermida tinha sido dedicada a S. João Baptista.

Foram construídas nos séculos XVI e XVII e no seu interior podemos ver alguns dos retablos mais bonitos da ilha.

 

I could not make a separate post of the Chapel and the Church because in reality there is no such separation. There are two doors, two different names but upon entering you can see both. I did not find much information about them but from what I read  they were part of a Franciscan convent, before that the Chapel was dedicated to S. Juan Bautista.
They were built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and inside we can see some of the island's most beautiful altarpieces.

do: IGLESIA N.S. DE LA PEÑA DE FRANCIA - PUERTO DE LA CRUZ, ESPANHA

Quem a vê de fora não diría que é do século XVII, parece na realidade mais recente e talvez seja a sua torre construída no final do século XIX que nos leve a pensá-lo. Não entrei pela porta principal e mesmo assim fui logo surpreendida pelos três altares que se dividem pelas três naves da igreja. O que tinham de comum era a riqueza do trabalho decorativo para além de varias figuras importantes veneradas pela gente do Puerto de la Cruz.

 

Who sees it wouldn't problaby say it's from the seventeenth century, in reality in looks more recent and perhaps it is it's tower built in the late nineteenth century that leads us to think so. I did not go through the front door and even I was surprised by the three altars that divide the three naves of the church. What they had in common was the rich decorative work in addition to several important figures venerated by the people of Puerto de la Cruz.
