eat: YOY - MADRID, ESPANHA

Passava pelo Yoy sempre que ia da Praça da Chueca em direcção ao Mercado de San Antón, sempre me despertou a curiosidade mas estava sempre cheio. Que os gelados de iogurte (ou o frozen yogurt) estão na moda ninguém tem dúvidas e a Yoy é uma catedral dedicada a essa nova maneira de comer gelados que gera debates sobre se realmente são mais saudáveis ou não, se são mais calóricos ou não.

I would pass by Yoy when going from Plaza Chueca towards the Mercado de San Antón, I've always been curious but it was always full. The ice cream yogurt (or frozen yogurt) is in fashion and no one doubts Yoy is a cathedral dedicated to this new way of eating ice cream that generates debates about whether they really are healthier or not, whether or not they are more caloric.

CASA DECOR 2013 - MADRID, ESPANHA

Desde que mudámos de casa e de país que comecei a dar menos valor á decoração. Em menos de cinco anos estivémos em três casas diferentes o que te dá outra perspectiva sobre o tema, para mim o importante é ter móveis que se desmontem com facilidade, que aguentem o desgaste e pouco ou nada podemos decorar (pintar paredes, aplicar papel, etc..) porque quando vives numa casa alugada tens que a devolver como a encontraste. Mas isso não nos impediu de trocar o Mercado dos Livros (a chuva afastou-nos) por uma visita a Casa Decor para inspiração, para apanhar pequenos truques que não precisem de muito investimento.

Since we changed our home country and I started will give less value to decorating. In less than five years we've been in three different houses which gives you another perspective on the issue, for me the important thing is to have furniture that disassemble easily, hold on to moving aroung and little or nothing we can decorate (paint walls, apply paper etc. ..) because when you live in a rented house you have to return it in the same way you find it. But that does not stop us from changing from the Market Books (rain pushed us) for a visit to Casa Decor for inspiration, to pick up little tricks that do not require much investment.

eat: LA CARMENCITA - MADRID, ESPANHA

Quando vi neste website fotos da Taberna La Carmencita sabia que mais cedo ou mais tarde acabaria sentada numa das suas mesas a contemplar a sua castiça decoração e a degustar os seus pratos em homenagem ao antigamente.

Este Sábado lá conseguimos escapar para conhecer a Taberna que se inaugurou em 1854, que passou por outras mãos sem grande sucesso até que hoje abre as suas portas graças ao empreendorismo de Carlos Zamora, o mesmo do restaurante Deluz em Santander.

 

When I saw the photos on this website Taberna La Carmencita I knew that sooner or later we would end up sitting on it's tables to contemplate it's typical decor and taste their dishes that honor the past.
This Saturday we managed to escape to discover this Tavern that opened in 1854, it passed through other hands without much success until today it opens its doors thanks to the entrepreneurship of Carlos Zamora, the same from the Deluz restaurant in Santander.

eat: PIZZA' - FLORENÇA, ITÁLIA

Passeávamos pela Via dei Calzaiuoli rumo ao Duomo quando encontrámos esta pizzaria com o (original) nome de pizzÁ. Na altura havia uma grande fila e se tivéssemos passado a outra hora que não a do lanche teríamos entrado para comer.

No dia seguinte tínhamos que comer rápido porque tínhamos a visita da Galeria Uffizi e voltámos aqui. Há porta dois anuncios antigos de uma marca de cerveja italiana (a Poretti) dão as boas vindas.

 

We walked down Via dei Calzaiuoli towards the Duomo when we found this pizzaria with the (original) name of pizzÁ. At the time there was a big queue and if we had passed by it in another hour tan the snack time we would have entered to eat.
The next day we had to eat fast because we had to visit the Uffizi Gallery and we came back here. At the door there are two vintage ads for a brand of Italian beer (the Poretti) to welcome you. 

do:GALERIA UFFIZI - FLORENÇA, ITÁLIA

Este era o museu que queria ver. Botticelli, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Raphael e Verrocchio todos debaixo do mesmo tecto é de facto um privilégio. Tal era a ansiedade que tentámos entrar mais cedo como na Accademia mas a Uffizi exige que se respeite a hora da marcação.

Ainda bem que comprámos os bilhetes online porque as filas eram de desesperar mas vale muito a pena.

 

This was the museum that I wanted to see. Botticelli, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Raphael and Verrocchio all under one roof is indeed a privilege. Such was the anxiety that we tried to get in early as we did in the Accademia but the Uffizi requires you to respect the appointment time.
Glad we bought the tickets online because the queues were desperate but well worth it.

do: PIAZZA DELLA SIGNORIA - FLORENÇA, ITÁLIA

Passámos pela Ponte Vecchio e caminhávamos em direcção ao Duomo quando ao olhar para uma rua á direita a torre do Palácio Vecchio se foi revelando, chegámos á Piazza della Signoria. Parece um museu ao ar livre, por todo o lado vemos estátuas que podemos apreciar sem pagar bilhete, é certo que grande parte são réplicas mas se não tens tempo de ver o David na Accademia podes ver aquí ainda que numa versão menos detalhada.

 

We passed through the Ponte Vecchio and walked towards the Duomo when looking into a street to the right the tower of the Palace Vecchio was revealing itself we had reached Piazza della Signoria. Looks like an open air museum, everywhere we see statues that we can enjoy without paying, it is certain that most are replicas but if you do not have time to see the David at the Accademia you can see here even if it is a less detailed versión.

eat: CANTINETTA DEI VERRAZZANO - FLORENÇA, ITÁLIA

Antes mesmo de chegar a Florença já levava na lista comer na Cantinetta dei Verrazzano. Por todo o lado diziam que tinham as melhores focaccia da cidade e tínhamos que provar. Quando entrámos estava cheio, ao fundo vimos o forno de onde saiam as maravilhosas foccacias e procurámos mesa. Parecia tarefa difícil mas numa pequena salinha com mesas de madeira e tampo de mármore conseguimos um lugar. Pedimos um misto de focaccias, o marido pediu um copo de vinho porque Cantinetta quer dizer pequena adega e Verrazzano é o nome do Castelo na Toscana de onde sai o vinho que ali se vende.

 

Before we even get to Florence we had in the list to eat in the Cantinetta dei Verrazzano. Everywhere we read they had the best focaccia in town and had to taste it. When we entered it was full, we saw at the end the furnace where the wonderful foccacias come out and we looked for a table. Seemed difficult task but we got a place in a small sitting room with wooden tables topped with marble. We ordered a mixed of focaccias, my husband asked for a glass of wine because Cantinetta means small winery and is the name of the Verrazzano Castle in Tuscany where the wine that they sell here comes from.
