eat: KRUSTA - PRAGA, REP. CHECA

Tenho que confessar que entrei na Krusta para comprar um Trdlo (ou Trdelnik) mas quase estive para provar um a um os bolos que tinham expostos, os muffins, os croissants e até o folhado de salchicha. Mas o que realmente nos atraiu foi o cheiro dos Trdlo a sairem de um forno. Estes bolos feitos com uma massa especial levam depois com uma cobertura de caramelo, amêndoas e açúcar.

 

I must confess that I entered Krusta to buy a Trdlo (or Trdelnik) but almost tasted one by one the cakes that were exposed, muffins, croissants and even the sausage wrapped in puff pastry. But what really attracted us was the smell of Trdlo coming out of an oven. These cakes made with a special dough get after a crust with a caramel topping, almonds and sugar.

O Intercontinental de Praga ficará para sempre na minha memória (e no meu coração) como o primeiro (e creio que o único) hotel onde estive alojada numa suite presidencial. Até aqui nunca tinha estado numa e nem na porta ao lado, desconfio que nem sequer no mesmo piso.

Se tivesse ido a Praga sem ser a trabalho talvez não tivesse escolhido este hotel porque é caro e porque quando visitas uma cidade queres aproveitar o tempo ao máximo por isso uma cama e toalhas lavadas são o suficiente, mas isto foi outra história...a suite presidencial foi máximo mesmo que tivesse sido por overbooking.

 

The Intercontinental Prague will be forever in my memory (and my heart) as the first (and I believe the only) hotel where I was housed in a presidential suite. Hitherto I had never been in one and not even next door, I suspect that not even on the same floor.
If I had gone to Prague without being at work I might not have chosen this hotel because it is expensive and because when visiting a city you want to maiximize your time exploring so a bed and washed towels are enough, but this was a different story ... presidential suite was top even if it was because they were overbooked.

eat: TANTEO - MAJADAHONDA, ESPANHA

Mais um sitio para ir de "tapas" aqui no bairro. Chama-se Tanteo e fica junto á Gran Via de Majadahonda. A sua esplanada chama a atenção e mais agora no Verão que sabe bem estar ali sentado a tomar uma "caña" e a comer umas tapas.

Fomos á hora do almoço e a um Domingo, além disso fomos relativamente cedo (antes das 14h) e estava quase vazio. 

 

Another place to have "tapas" in the neighborhood. It's called Tanteo and is near the Gran Via in Majadahonda. Its terrace attracts attention and more so now that in the summer it feels great to drink a a "caña" and tapas.

We went at lunch hour on a Sunday, also it was relatively early (before 14h) and almost empty.

Decidi interromper os meus posts sobre Praga para falar sobre a fantástica noite que tivémos na sexta-feira passada. Percebemos agora que há mais de quatro anos que não íamos a um concerto (o último foi o Rock in Rio Lisboa) e nem queríamos acreditar que estávamos ali a ouvir Maria Creuza cantar Vinicius de Moraes e Tom Jobim num concerto gratuito e com um ambiente que não tem preço.

 

I decided to take a break of my posts on Prague to talk about the fantastic night we had this past Friday. We now see that there it has passed more than four years since our last concert (the last was the Rock in Rio Lisboa) and neither wanted to believe that we were there to hear Maria Creuza sing Vinicius de Moraes and Tom Jobim in a free concert and an environment that was priceless.

do: GOLDEN LANE - PRAGA, REP. CHECA

Não fosse a zona dedicada aos objectos utilizados para tortura na época medieval e renascimento poderia dizer que a Golden Lane é uma pequena cidade de conto de fadas e afinal que seria de uma história de encantar sem um vilão?

Pitoresca é o adjectivo mais utilizado para descrever a rua que está na zona norte do Castelo de Praga e que tem nela um conjunto de coloridas casas que no século XVI quando foram construídas serviam para os arqueiros que o defendiam.

 

If it wasn't for the zone dedicated to articles used for torture in medieval and renaissance times I could say that the Golden Lane is a small town of fairy tale and anyway it would be a story without a villain to enchant?
Picturesque is the adjective most used to describe the street which is in the north of the Prague Castle and it has a set of colored houses that in the sixteenth century when they were built were for the archers who defended it.

do: PRAÇA CIDADE VELHA - PRAGA, REP. CHECA

Este ano tem sido fértil em viagens curtas e na sua maioria a trabalho, talvez seja o cansaço, os aeroportos cheios de gente (stressada para entrar num avião), as reuniões, o networking não sei muito nem explicar mas entro numa praça cheia de gente e só penso em ir embora. Foi essa a minha primeira reacção á Praça da Cidade Velha, uma das mais bonitas da cidade mas também uma das mais visitadas.

 

This year has been productive on short trips and mostly to work, so perhaps it was fatigue, the crowded airports (people stressed to get on a plane), meetings, networking I can't explain not know much but I walk into a crowded square and just think about leaving. That was my first reaction is the Old Town Square, one of the city's most beautiful but also one of the most visited.

eat: OLIVA VERDE - PRAGA, REP. CHECA

O Oliva Verde tinha tudo para ser uma ratoeira turística a começar pela sua localização: em frente ao Orloj e junto á Praça da Cidade Velha um dos pontos da cidade com mais gente, mas transformou-se numa agradável surpresa e nem foi por ter baixado a expectativa, gostámos mesmo do que comemos sabendo que não é um restaurante de comida típica.

 

The Oliva Verde had everything to be a tourist trap starting with its location: in front of the Clock and near the Old Town Square one of the parts of the city with more people, but it became a pleasant surprise and it wasn't that I lowered my expectation, we really liked eating there knowing that it was not a traditional czech food restaurant.
