eat: XURRERIA JOFRE - PLATJA D'ARO, ESPANHA

Primeiro é preciso esclarecer que o churro em Portugal equivale a uma porra (eu sei que a palavra é polémica mas é a que há) em Espanha, as farturas que são as mais pequeninas aqui são os xurros. Dito isto e apesar de não ter nenhuma pós-graduação sobre Churros/Porras tenho que dizer que as melhores que comi foram aqui na Xurreria Jofre em Platja D'Aro.

 

First we must clarify that the churro (fried dough pastry) in Portugal equals a "porra" (I know the word is controversial but it is there, it actually translates to the f*** Word) in Spain, the fritters (farturas) which are the tiniest here are xurros. That said, and despite not having any postgraduate about Churros / Porras I have to say that was the best I ate were here on Xurreria Jofre in Platja D'Aro.

do: CASTELO DE NEUSCHWANSTEIN - SCHWANGAU, ALEMANHA

Este é um Castelo de sonho, dos que estava na minha lista para visitar, dos que há muitos anos que via fotos e fotos sempre desejando ser eu a que o fotografasse e esse dia chegou, em Agosto para que o sol me permitisse vê-lo de várias partes de Schwangau.

A expectativa era grande e é de facto um monumento impresionante, mas é também muito populado de turistas que como eu o querem contemplar, provocando filas para tudo e retirando o romantismo á experiência. Diz o Wikipedia que ao ano chega a receber mais de uma milhão de visitantes e eu fiquei com a sensação que foram todos no mesmo dia que eu. Deixo já uma recomendação: a melhor hora para visitá-lo é ao final do dia, quando sol o cobre de tons quentes, há menos gente e podes ir andando pelos campos á volta para nunca o perder de vista.

 

This castle is a dream of those that was on my list to visit, of which for many years I saw pictures always wishing that I would photograph and  that day arrived in August so that the sun would allow me to see it from various parts of Schwangau.
The expectation was great and it is a really impressive monument, but it is also very populated of tourists like myself who want to contemplate it, causing queues for everything and removing the romanticism to the experience. And now a recommendation: the best time to visit it is the end of the day, when the sun covers it with warm tones, there are fewer people and you can go walking through the fields around it so you never lose sight of it.

eat: GELATARIA AMORINO - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

Ao passear pela Rua Augusta encontrámos a Gelataria Amorino e decidimos que depois do almoço na Taberna Moderna os famosos gelados em forma de flor seriam a nossa sobremesa. A primeira e única vez que comemos um gelado da Amorino foi na cidade francesa de Bordéus e lembro-me que adorámos, quisémos repetir a boa experiencia que tivémos.

 

Strolling along Rua Augusta we found the Gelataria Amorino and decided that after having lunch at the famous Taberna Moderna we would have the flower shaped ice cream for dessert. The first and only time I ate an ice cream from Amorino was in the French city of Bordeaux and remember that we loved, we wanted to repeat the experience we have done good.

eat: TABERNA MODERNA - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

Quando pensei no nome, na localização e no seu exterior pensei na típica taberna portuguesa, mas esta chama-se Moderna e quando entras percebes porquê a começar pela decoração que é mais actual passando pela ementa que combina as cozinhas portuguesa, espanhola e asiática.

Fora está uma pequena esplanada mas porque estava muito calor optámos por almoçar dentro. 

 

When I thought of the name, the location and its exterior I thought of a typical portuguese tavern but this is called Modern and you understand why when you set foot in it starting with decor that is more current going through the menu that combines the Portuguese, Spanish and Asian cuisines.
Outside there is a small terrace but because it was very hot we decided to have lunch inside.

do: MIRADOURO DO ARCO DA RUA AUGUSTA - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

A partir deste mês Lisboa ganhou mais um miradouro. O Arco da Rua Augusta foi aberto ao público e oferece uma vista 360º da cidade por 2,5€ por pessoa subindo uma parte de elevador e a outra através de umas escadas (bem estreitas). As vistas valem mesmo a pena porque podemos ver a Margem Sul, a Ponte 25 de Abril, o Castelo de S. Jorge, a Rua Augusta, etc..

Starting this month Lisboa has won another viewpoint. The Arch of Augusta Street was opened to the public and offers a 360 ° view of the city for 2.5 € per person lift up a part and the other through stairs (and narrow). The sights worth seeing because we can see the South Rim, the 25 de Abril Bridge, the Castle of S. Jorge, Rua Augusta, etc..

do: FEIRA DE ARTESANATO DO ESTORIL - CASCAIS, PORTUGAL

Pode ser uma boa ideia conjugar num só dia uma visita á Feira do Artesanato do Estoril (FIARTIL) e as Festas do Mar na Baía de Cascais, podendo para ambas usar a linha de comboio saindo no Estoril para ver a primeira e depois em Cascais para um concerto gratuito á beira mar.

Este ano o evento celebra 50 anos da sua existencia, começou a 28 de Junho e termina a 1 de Setembro. Para entrar no recinto da feira os adultos têm que pagar 1€ (2,5€ se for ao fim de semana).

 

Might be a good idea to combine in a single day a visit to the Feira do Artesanato do Estoril(FIARTIL - Crafts Fair) and the Festival of the Sea in the Bay of Cascais, for both one can use the train line coming out in Estoril to see the first and then to Cascais for a free concert close to the sea.
This year's event celebrates 50 years of its existence, it started on June 28 and will end on September 1st. To enter the fairgrounds adults have to pay € 1 (€ 2.5 if the weekend).

do: FESTAS DO MAR 2013 - CASCAIS, PORTUGAL

Começaram no dia 16 deste mês as Festas do Mar de Cascais em honra á Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes e que até dia 25 promete encher de gente a Baía de Cascais com concertos gratuitos, barraquinhas de comida e artesanato, fogo de artificio (se não for cancelado) e muito bom ambiente.

No dia da abertura que foi o único em que podíamos estar presentes, ouvimos Craig David cantar o "Walking away", "Rise and Fall" e o "Fill Me In".

 

On the 16th of this month the Festas do Mar in Cascais started in honor of Our Lady of Navigators and until the 25th promises to fill us Cascais Bay with free concerts, food stalls and crafts, fireworks (if not canceled ) and very good atmosphere.
On the opening day which was the only one that we could be present, we listened to Craig David sing "Walking Away," "Rise and Fall" and "Fill Me In".
