Mais um ano em Madrid e mais um ano que (quase) perco a Mostra Portuguesa. Uma semana cultural onde podemos matar saudades dos nossos artistas e conhecer novas caras do panorama artístico luso. O motivo pelo o qual as perco é que nesta altura é quando mais viajo por trabalho e muitos dos concertos ou actividades são a días de semana o que se torna complicado gerir com crianças. Conseguimos no entanto ver a exposição do pintor Domingos Sequeira no Museo del Romanticismo...e grátis!

 

Another year in Madrid and another year that (almost) lose the Portuguese Festival. A cultural week where we can relive memories of our artists and meet new faces of the Portuguese art scene. The reason why I always miss it is that this time is when I travel more with work and many of the concerts or activities are on week days so it becomes complicated to manage with children. We could however see the exhibition of the painter Domingos Sequeira at the Museo del Romanticism ... and free!

CÁCERES - ESPANHA

Há seis anos atrás, estava eu grávida do meu primeiro filho, fizémos uma fim de semana prolongado em Cáceres. Na altura nem tinha o blog, não fotografava a pensar no post que ia fazer e talvez por isso não sejam muitas as fotos que ilustrem a verdadeira beleza desta cidade. Ainda assim não a podía deixar de fora porque quero voltar, quero mostrar ao mais velho onde andou a passear comigo sem ainda ter nascido.

A nossa visita começa inevitávelmente por um passeio na Plaza Mayor onde no dia anterior tínhamos jantado num dos muitos restaurantes (demasiado) turísticos da zona.

Six years ago, I was pregnant with my first child, we went for a long weekend to Cáceres. At the time I didn't even had the blog, I did not think of photographing for the post was going to do and maybe that's why I don't have photos illustrating the real beauty of this city. Still I could not leave it out because I want to come back, I want to show to my eldest boy that walked with me without even being born.
Our tour begins inevitably with a stroll in the Plaza Mayor where we had dined the day before in one of the many restaurants (too)in this tourism area.

É talvez a segunda praça mais interessante de Segóvia e digo isto porque Plaza de San Martin leva este prémio. Por outro lado, a Plaza Mayor é das mais agitadas da cidade com a Catedral como protagonista mas com outros edificios importantes como o do Ayuntamiento ou o do Teatro Juan Bravo construído em 1917.

 

It is perhaps the second most interesting square of Segovia and I say this because the Plaza San Martin takes the prize. On the other hand, the Plaza Mayor is one of the busiest in the city with the Cathedral as the protagonist but with other important buildings such as the Ayuntamiento or the Teatro Juan Bravo built in 1917.

Vi este palácio fortificado várias vezes, a primeira á três anos mas nunca visitei o seu interior, além de que só agora estou a escrever sobre ele. Dois falhos graves dos quais apenas o último estou a corrigir agora. O primeiro nem consigo explicá-lo, cinco idas a Segóvia e em nenhuma encontrei uma oportunidade para entrar, o mais perto que estive foi em 2010 nesta primeira visita mas chegámos tarde e já tinham fechado, aproveitámos para ficar, apreciar o seu exterior e o pôr do sol que recomendo vivamente.

I saw this fortified palace several times, the first was three years ago but I never visited it's interior, besides that I'm just now writing about it. Two serious flaws of which only the last I'm correcting now. The first I can not even explain it, five trips to Segovia and nowhere found an opportunity to get in the closest I've been was in 2010 in this first visit but we arrived late and they had already closed, we stayed, enjoyed it's outdoor and sunset which I highly recommend.

eat: CASA DUQUE - SEGÓVIA, ESPANHA

Em Setembro tivémos visitas de familia e decidimos ir a Segóvia, o objectivo era para além de dar a conhecer a cidade, comer o famoso "cochinillo" (leitão), um "monumento" culinário quase tão importante para que a visita como o seu Alcázar. Depois de bater com o nariz em algumas portas acabámos no Duque que nos tinha sido recomendado por um policía que estava na Plaza Mayor.

Há uma verdadeira competição para ver quem tem o melhor cochinillo, eu comi em três sitios: Cândido (na Plaza del Azoguejo), José Maria (perto da Plaza Mayor) e agora na Casa Duque.

 

In September we had a family visit and decided to go to Segovia, the purpose besides getting to know the city, was to eat the famous "cochinillo" (suckling pig), a culinary "monument" almost as important as the visit to it's Alcázar. After hitting the nose on some doors we ended up at Casa Duque that we had been recommended by a policeman who was in the Plaza Mayor.
There is a real competition to see who has the best cochinillo, I ate at three sites: Candido (in Plaza del Azoguejo), José Maria (near the Plaza Mayor) and now the Casa Duque.

do: AQUEDUTO ROMANO - SEGÓVIA, ESPANHA

O que mais gosto de Segóvia é a variedade de monumentos que encontras sem ter que fazer grandes deslocações. Logo ao chegar o primeiro que vês é o Aqueduto e depois enquanto te metes nas ruelas do centro histórico chegas a pequenas praças castiças, á Catedral e andando um pouco mais ao Alcázar. E nada me faz esquecer o primeiro impacto de ver o imponente aqueduto, principalmente porque fomos depois de almoço em que o sol começa a dar-lhe uma tonalidade mais quente.

 

What I like most about Segovia is the variety of monuments that you can find without having to do extensive travel. Upon arrival the first thing you see is the aqueduct and then while you mind in the alleys of the historical center arrive to charming small squares, to the Cathedral and walking a bit more to the Alcázar. And nothing makes me forget the first impact of seeing the majestic aqueduct, mainly because we went there after lunch when the sun starts to give it a warmer tone.

do: TOURIST BUS - SEGÓVIA, ESPANHA

Últimamente os autocarros ou comboios turísticos parecem não estar conotados de forma positiva, talvez por serem como a palavra indica (demasiado) turísticos e porque hoje em dia já muita gente procura experiências mais autênticas. Eu ainda assim gosto desta forma, primeiro porque permite ver as principais atracções turísticas numa hora sem grande esforço e segundo, porque normalmente têm um audioguia que ajuda a entender um pouco melhor o que estamos a ver. 

 

Lately tourist buses or trains don't seem to be connoted positively, perhaps because they are as the word implies (too much for) tourist because nowadays many people looking for more authentic experiences. I still like it this way, first because it allows you to see the main attractions in a hour without great effort and second, because they usually have an audio guide that helps you understand a little better what we are seeing.
