eat: SAN FRANCISCO COFFEE COMPANY - MUNIQUE, ALEMANHA

Uma das melhores coisas das férias é poder tomar um pequeno-almoço sem pressa, sair de casa e ir a um café agradável para começar o dia da melhor maneira. Não tínhamos muitos dias em Munique e queríamos aproveitar a cidade ao máximo para além de ir ao Neuschwanstein e a Salzburgo mas no último dia antes do voo conseguimos abrandar o ritmo e parar no San Francisco Coffee Company.

One of the best things about the holidays is being able to take a leisurely breakfast, leave home and go to a nice coffee house to start the day in the best wat. We didn't have many days in Munich and wanted to enjoy it to the fullest besides going to the Neuschwanstein and Salzburg but on the last day before the flight we were able to slow down and stop at the San Francisco Coffee Company.

Não consigo negar: adoro o Natal. Adoro! Nem penso muito na parte "comercial" só penso (e mais ainda por estar em Madrid) que é um momento para estar com a familia, um momento em que a pesar de estar um frio de rachar as pessoas encontram motivos para sair á rua seja para ver a iluminação da cidade ou para fazer compras.  E chegar até a esta árvore de Natal não foi fácil, uma multidão de gente tinha tido o mesmo desejo que nós e tornou mais complicado disfrutar com calma.

 

I can not deny it: I love Christmas. I love it! I don't think to much about the "commercial" side of it I just think (and even more for being in Madrid) is time to be with our family, a time when despite being freezing cold outside people always find a reason to go out into the street to see the lighting of the town or to go shopping. And to get to this Christmas tree was not easy, a crowd of people had had the same desire that we  had and it become more complicated to calmly enjoy.

eat: TAQUERÍA MI CIUDAD - MADRID, ESPANHA

O Domingo passado foi cheio de pequenas descobertas enquanto caminhávamos por Madrid para visitar os habituais lugares de azáfama natalicia. A Taquería Mi Ciudad foi outra delas. Num jantar de equipa, a nossa colega mexicana veio aqui comprar a comida, na altura tinha adorado e fiquei com o cartão mas nunca me dei ao trabalho de procurar o sitio, isto aconteceu há mais de dois anos. Ao ir da Calle Arenal até á Plaza Mayor passei por aqui e não pude resistir, tive que voltar a provar os tacos que dizem ser os mais genuínos da cidade.

 

Last Sunday was full of little discoveries as we walked through Madrid to visit the usual places of the holiday bustle. Taqueria Mi Ciudad was another of them. In a team dinner, our Mexican colleague came here to buy the food at the time remember loving it and got a visiting card but never took the time to look for the place, that happened more than two years ago. As I went from Calle Arenal to the Plaza Mayor we passed through this Taqueria and could not resist, I had to go back to try the tacos said to be the most genuine of the city.

Madrid é uma cidade com boas tradições, umas melhores que outras e este Mercado de Natal pode estar no lado das boas com excepção de que tudo o que é tradicional está a evoluir mas aqui parece estar na mesma e é uma pena. Mas já o ano passado falei disso, influenciada por uma visita aos mercados de Natal da Bélgica achei que esse conceito faz falta aqui. Por outro lado e como Madrid é uma cidade grande podemos encontrar uma boa variedade de Mercados e nunca deixar de passar por aqui para manter essa tradição.

 

Madrid is a city with good traditions, some better than others, and this Christmas market may be on the good side with the exception that all that is traditional is evolving but here seems to be the same and it's unfortunate. But since last year I said, influenced by a visit to the Christmas markets in Belgium that found that concept was lacking here. On the other hand, as Madrid is a great city one can find a good selection of markets and never fail to come to this one to maintain this tradition.

Este ano e no nosso tradicional passeio navidenho pelas ruas de Madrid encontrei este mercado na Plaza Isabel II. Caminhávamos pela Calle Arenal a caminho do Mercado de Natal da Plaza Mayor e começo a ler Dulce Navidad...com este nome como é que alguém consegue ficar longe?

Não sei há quanto tempo existe mas este ano foi a primeira vez que o vi, aqui vendem-se churros, pão, "empanadas", todo o tipo de gomas e doces, chocolates, bolinhos de maçapão, etc..

 

This year and during our traditional walk through the streets of Madrid during Xmas time we found this market in the Plaza Isabel II. We walked down Calle Arenal on our way to the Plaza's Mayor Christmas Market when I start reading Dulce Navidad (Sweet Christmas) ... with that name how can anyone stay away?
I do not know how long it exists but this year was the first time I saw it, here they sell churros, bread "empanadas", all kinds of gums and candies, chocolates, marzipan cookies, etc. ..

do: MUSEU DO TRAJE - MADRID, ESPANHA

Desde que vivo em Madrid que sempre tive curiosidade de visitar o Museu do Traje mais ainda depois de ter visto o de Portugal. Mas nunca foi o momento certo até ver na internet que na sexta-feira passada a entrada era gratuita. Foi a desculpa ideal e a isto juntou-se duas exposição temporárias que queria ver: a da icónica boneca Nancy e a das roupas da produção da série Isabel da TVE, que sigo religiosamente todas as segundas-feiras.

 

Since I live in Madrid have always been curious to visit the Museum of Costume even more after seeing the one from Portugal. But it was never the right time to see it until I saw on the internet that last Friday admission was free. It was the perfect excuse and also with the fact they held two temporary exhibition I wanted to see: the iconic Nancy doll and the clothes from the production of Isabel TVE series, that I follow religiously every Monday.

do: EXPOSIÇÃO NANCY SE VISTE DE MODA - MADRID, ESPANHA

Ontem foi feriado em Espanha, celebrava-se o Dia da Constituição que aconteceu justamente no ano em que nasci, 1978. Por esse motivo, vários museus tinham entradas gratuitas e um deles foi o Museu do Traje. Aproveitei a "borla" para ir ver a exposição temporária da Nancy que celebra 45 anos como uma das bonecas preferidas das meninas espanholas.

O objectivo era associar a marca espanhola a esta tão icónica e que atravessou fronteiras, para isso juntaram 25 criadores para contribuir para a exposição.

 

Yesterday was a holiday in Spain, they celebrated the Constitution Day it actually happened in the year I was born, 1978. By that reason, several museums have free admission and one was the Costume Museum (Museo del Traje). I took advantage of the "freebie" to go see the temporary exhibition of Nancy celebrating 45 years as one of the Spanish girls preferred dolls.
The aim was to involve the Spanish Brand with this iconic doll that crossed borders, for it gathered 25 designers to contribute to this exhibition.
