eat: BORGO ANTICO - FLORENÇA, ITÁLIA

Se uma coisa se pode dizer de Florença é que é preciso ter muito azar e escolher muito mal para não comer bem. Salvo alguma excepção (e nem muito grave) comemos sempre bem e a ajudar a esta afirmação está o Borgo Antico.  Para escapar um pouco ás nossas ruas habituais de Florença decidimos passar para o outro lado do Arno e entrar no bairro de Oltrano, um dos mais "hipster" da cidade.

 

If one thing can be said about Florence is that you must be very unlucky and choose poorly to not eat well. Barring some exception (and not very serious) we always ate well and to help this assertion is the Borgo Antico. To escape a bit from our usual streets of Florence we decided to move to the other side of the Arno and enter the Oltrarno district, one of the most "hipster" of the city.

Não foi fácil a nossa escolha de hotel em Florença, queríamos ficar perto dos monumentos mas não queríamos uma zona demasiado agitada, íamos com um bébé por isso o tamanho do quarto era importante e acabámos por escolher o NH Anglo American junto ao Consulado dos Estados Unidos, um pouco mais longe do epicentro turístico mas num bairro que gostei muito pelas suas lojas e restaurantes. Foi para nós uma boa escolha.

 

It was not easy choosing our hotel in Florence, we wanted to stay close to the monuments but we didn't want a busy area, we went with a baby so the room size was important and ended up choosing the NH Anglo American near the U.S. Consulate, a little further away from the tourist epicenter but in a neighborhood that we enjoyed for its shops and restaurants. It was a good choice for us.

do: JARDIM DE BOBOLI - FLORENÇA, ITÁLIA

Não pudémos visitar o interior do Palácio Pitti mas não podíamos deixar de visitar o seu fantástico jardim de proporções generosas e que em alguns pontos oferecem uma excelente vista sobre Florença. A familia Medici foi a responsável pela ampliação do Palácio no século XIV assim como da construção do jardim que podemos hoje contemplar. As entradas custam 10€ e dão acesso para além deste Jardim, a três museus (um deles o da Porcelana) e ao Jardim de Bardini que valem a pena a visita.

 

We could not visit the inside of the Pitti Palace but we could not miss your fantastic garden of generous proportions and in some places offer a great view of Florence. The Medici family was responsible for the expansion of the palace in the fourteenth century and the building of the garden that we admire today. Tickets are 10€ and provide access beyond this garden, the three museums (one of Porcelain) and the Bardini Gardens that are worth the visit.

eat: EL BODEGÓN - HUESCA, ESPANHA

Saímos do Formigal com uma grande vontade de comer um "chuletón" mas sempre que olhávamos para o preço desistimos mas como Huesca seria a última paragem acabámos por decidir que tínhamos mesmo que comer um e o El Bodegón era um dos sitios recomendados para o fazer.

Instalado numa antiga bodega, foi renovado mantendo o seu espirito e alguns dos seus característicos elementos arquitectónicos como os arcos.

 

We left Formigal with a craving for a "chuletón" but when we looked at the Price we gave up as Huesca would be the last stop we finally decided that we had to eat one and the El Bodegón was one of the recommended sites to do so.
Housed in a former bodega has been renovated retaining its spirit and some of its architectural features such as the arches.

do: CENTRO HISTÓRICO - HUESCA, ESPANHA

O caminho entre Formigal e Madrid passava por Huesca, no regresso da nossa curta semana na neve decidimos para na capital de Aragão para almoçar. Antes ainda tentámos conhecer o Castelo de Loarre mas o nevoeiro nesse dia era tão grande que nem conseguíamos vê-lo, uma pena porque é um dos melhor preservados da Europa e foi cenário do filme do Ridley Scott, "Kingdom of Heaven". Chegámos ao centro da cidade e comemos no El Bodegón que fica muito perto do centro histórico.

 

The road between Madrid and  Formigal went through Huesca, returning from our short week in the snow we decided to go to the capital of Aragon for lunch. Before we did try to visit the Castle of Loarre but the fog that day was so thick that we could not even see it, a shame because it is one of the best preserved in Europe and was the setting of the Ridley Scott's filme "Kingdom of Heaven". We reached the city center and ate at El Bodegón which is very close to the historical center.

eat: TAPERIA GAUDY - CONSUEGRA, ESPANHA

Antes de visitar os Moínhos em Consuegra - que era o nosso objectivo - queríamos almoçar no restaurante o Alfar. Estava cheio, não tínhamos reserva e estava tão caótico que os empregados iam coçando a cabeça enquanto lhes perguntavas quanto tempo ia demorar a mesa. Como não tinha começado muito bem decidimos ir mais para perto do centro e foi onde descobrimos a Taperia Gaudy. Também estava cheio mas conseguimos ficar no balcão ou "barra" que também tinha carta mas mais reduzida.

 

Before visiting the windmills (Molinos) in Consuegra - that was our goal - we wanted to have lunch at the restaurant Alfar. It was full, we had no reservation and was so chaotic that employees were scratching their heads as you asked them how long it would take the table. That wasn't a promising start so we decided to go closer to the center and it was where we discovered the Taperia Gaudy. Was also full but we managed to stay on the counter or "barra" which also had a menú but smaller.

do: MOINHOS - CONSUEGRA, ESPANHA

Partimos para a região de Toledo com o objectivo de visitar o Castelo e os moínhos de Consuegra. Faz parte de um novo plano de passeios que decidimos fazer nos dias de inverno mais solarengos, visitar Castelos e felizmente Espanha tem para varios fins de semana. Mas a nossa missão em Consuegra ficou incompleta porque só conseguimos ver os moínhos  porque quando chegámos ao Castelo já estava fechado.

 

We depart for the Toledo region with the aim of visiting the castle and windmills of Consuegra. Is part of a new plan trips we decided to do on winter days sunnier, visit Castles and luckily Spain has for several weekends. But our mission in Consuegra was incomplete because we only see the windmills because when we reached the castle was already closed.
