Ludwig I mandou construir a Odeonplatz em 1816 e é onde podemos encontrar alguns dos monumentos mais importantes da cidade cuja arquitectura é na sua maioria de inspiração italiana. O primeiro é o Residenz, o grande palácio que serviu como residência oficial da Casa de Wittelsbach (a familia real da Baviera) e cuja entrada oeste podemos contemplar desde Odeonplatz.

 

Ludwig I had the Odeonplatz built in 1816 and is where we can find some of the most important monuments of the city whose architecture is mostly Italian-inspired. The first is the Residenz, the great palace that served as the official residence of the House of Wittelsbach (the royal family of Bavaria) and whose western entrance since we can contemplate Odeonplatz.

Antes de visitar o museu passámos pelo BMW Welt (ou World) é o grande showroom da marca onde se pode ver os últimos modelos, alguns protótipos e ver outras marcas como a Mini e a Rolls Royce. A entrada é gratuita e para os que adoram carros, principalmente os de alta gama podem entrar e ver bem por dentro, só não podem andar se não comprar.

 

Before visiting the museum we passed by the BMW Welt (or World) it's a large brand showroom where you can see the latest models, prototypes and see some other brands like Mini and Rolls Royce. Admission is free and for those who love cars, especially high range you can go in and look well inside, you just can't drive them unless you buy it.

do: SEDE E MUSEU DA BMW - MUNIQUE, ALEMANHA

Muito próximo do Olympiapark está a sede da BMW desenhada por Karl Schwarzer que se inspirou num motor de quatro cilindros para a criar. Construída no final da década de sessenta foi inaugurada juntamente com o seu museu um ano após os Jogos Olímpicos de Munique de 1972.
O museu em forma de taça expõe mais de cento e vinte carros e motas produzidos pela BMW, alguns protótipos, entre outras curiosidades.

Very near the Olympiapark is the headquarters of BMW designed by Karl Schwarzer who was inspired by a four-cylinder engine to create it. Built in the late sixties it was inaugurated along with its museum a year after the Munich Olympics of 1972.
The cup-shaped museum exhibits more than one hundred and twenty cars and motorcycles produced by BMW, some prototypes, among other curiosities.

Rodeada de elegantes edificios a Promenadeplatz tem ao centro um pequeno passeio com um jardim que lhe dá o nome e onde a cidade de Munique presta homenagem a algumas personagens influentes da sua história. Um dos que mais no impressionou foi a do Conde de Montgelas desenhada em 2005 através de novas tecnologías e construída em aluminio.

 

Surrounded by elegant buildings the Promenadeplatz has a short stroll in the center with a garden that gives it the name and where the city of Munich pays tribute to some influential figures in its history. One of the most impressive to me was of the Count of Montgelas drawn in 2005 through new technologies and built in aluminum.

eat: TABERNA DEL VOLAPIÉ - MAJADAHONDA, ESPANHA

Fomos á Taberna del Volapié a um Sábado depois das compras no mercado, a sua esplanada convida a sentar e a sua carta repleta de petiscos enche as suas mesas de gente que não quer só beber uma cerveja. Chamou-me a atenção a sua colorida fachada a relembrar as antigas tabernas e pensava que era um conceito original mas é na realidade uma cadeia de restaurantes da Andaluzia que felizmente decidiram abrir uma em Majadahonda.

 

We went to Taberna del Volapié a Saturday after shopping at the market, its terrace invites to sit and their menú complete with good snacking options fills its tables of people who not only want to drink a beer. Called my attention because of it's colorful facade that recalls the old taverns and thought it was an original concept but is actually a chain of restaurants from Andalucía that thankfully decided to open one in Majadahonda.

Há algum tempo que não fazia o tradicional programa dos habitantes de Majadahonda nas manhãs de Sábado: ir ao mercado (ver aqui). É sempre uma boa experiencia a pesar da multidão porque para além de comprar fruta e verduras de boa qualidade, acabas por conhecer pessoas enquanto esperas que te atendam e foi de esta forma tão ao acaso que conhecemos o Horno Santa Mónica quando perguntámos a uma senhora onde tinha comprado o pão que levava.

 

It has been a long time since I did the traditional Majadahonda locals program on Saturday mornings: go to the market (see here). It's always a good experience despite the crowds because apart from buying fruit and vegetables of good quality, you end up meeting people while waiting to and this was how we randomly discovered the Horno Santa Monica when we asked a lady where she had bought the bread she was carrying.

do: BRYANT PARK - NOVA IORQUE, EUA

Gostámos muito de passear no Bryant Park é daqueles sitios que desejas ter á porta de casa com um bom relvado, com as cadeirinhas de jardim para tomar um café ao ar livre ou ler um livro descansada. Fiquei com a sensação de que é como se tivesses um pedacinho da Paris em Nova Iorque, uma zona de tranquilidade no reboliço da cidade rodeado de edificios emblemáticos um deles o da Biblioteca Pública.

 

We really enjoyed walking in Bryant Park it is one of those places you wish to have close to your house with a nice lawn, with garden chairs to drink coffee outdoors or reading a book. I got the feeling that it is like a piece of Paris in New York, aa peaceful área away from the hustle and bustle of the city surrounded by emblematic buildings one is the Public Library.
