RHODES, GRÉCIA

Foi a nossa próxima paragem, felizmente nesta ilha tínhamos um dia inteiro para visitá-la, como não era muito grande decidimos fazê-lo de mota, alugámos assim que saímos do barco.

Quisémos ir primeiro á outra ponta da ilha, Lindos. E a principio devo admitir que não estava a dar muito por Rhodes porque fomos pela estrada da zona Norte e não parecia fantástica, mas assim que vislumbramos um paraíso...com as suas lagoas de água azul quase caribenha, com o seu castelo, com as suas ruelas cheias de charme e com a Acrópole. Tudo isto num espacinho só que curiosamente se chama...Lindos, faz jus ao nome.

It was our next stop, fortunately this island had a whole day to visit her, as it was not too big we decided to do it by motorbike, so we rented the boat left.
We wanted to go first to the other end of the island, Lindos. And at first I must admit I was not giving much for Rhodes because we were on the road in the North and did not look fantastic, but once you envision ... a paradise with its blue water lagoons almost Caribbean, with its castle, with narrow streets full of charm and the Acropolis. All this in a small space that only ... curiously called Lindos, lives up to its name.

 

Quando entramos no Castelo que contrasta com as colunas gregas, sentimos o peso da história e tal como em Ephesus, também os persas passaram por aqui, os gregos...claro, os romanos, Alexandre o Grande (esse tipo teve em todo o lado) e até muçulmanos ocuparam a ilha. É interessante também ver a disputa de que foi alvo durante a segunda guerra mundial, os turcos tiveram posse da ilha, depois os italianos, depois os alemães que procuravam mais judeus para mandar para os campos de concentração até que finalmente, ficou na posse da Grécia e faz parte da rota das ilhas gregas onde muitos cruzeiros passam para mostrar as suas maravilhas aos turistas.

 

As we entered the castle, which contrasts with the Greek columns, we feel the weight of history and as in Ephesus, the Persians also passed through here, of course ... the Greeks, the Romans, Alexander the Great (such was everywhere ) and even Muslims occupied the island. It is also interesting to see the dispute that was targeted during the second world war, the Turks took possession of the island, then the Italians, then the Germans who sought to have more Jews to concentration camps until finally, was held in Greece and is part of the route where many of the Greek islands cruises go to show its wonders to tourists.

 

 

 
 

Almoçámos numa tasquinha pelas ruas de Lindos, algo rápido porque a água já chamava por nós há muito tempo. Queríamos conhecer as várias praias da ilha, a primeira foi a de Lindos com vista para o Castelo.

We had lunch in a small tavern on the streets of Lindos, something quick because the water was already calling for us. We wanted to discover the various beaches of the island, the first was Lindos overlooking the Castle.

 

Depois de mota seguimos a linha da praia e parámos noutra, aqui apercebemo-nos que há um lado mais "comercial" de Rhodes com hotéis junto á praia apinhados de turistas ingleses, nada de mal mas estávamos com vontade de um pouco de "isolamento" grego.

Não ficámos muito tempo e decidimos ir conhecer a "Old Town", a cidade medieval de Rhodes e fazer algumas compritas, uns "souvenirs".

After  in our motorcycle we followed the line of the beach and we stopped in another, here we realize that there a more "commercial" side to Rhodes with hotels along the beach packed with British tourists, nothing bad but we were in the mood for a little  Greek "isolation".
We did stay long and decided to go to the "Old Town", the medieval city of Rhodes and do some shopping, some "souvenir" shopping.

 

 

Tudo dentro das muralhas do castelo tem o charme medieval, desde os bares e restaurantes passando pelas suas lojas.

Gostámos de tal maneira de Rhodes, que estupidamente perdemos o cruzeiro. Conselho: nunca, mas nunca perder o cruzeiro, ponham o despertador do telemóvel se necessário...eles dão 30 minutos de tolerância (se dão por falta de passageiros) e nem um minuto mais. Corremos, gritámos para que parassem o barco mas já era tarde e não há nenhum barquinho que vos leva a bordo, têm que apanhar um avião para a ilha onde querem ir. E mais, têm há vossa espera um "tubarão" de um agente de viagem que vos engana a torto e a direito (foi o que nos aconteceu) e como não vos devolvem os passaportes mas sim umas fotocópias esperem problemas no aeroporto para confirmar a vossa identificação...

Cruzeiros? Só em caso de extrema necessidade (que estou para descobrir qual) ou quando chegar aos 70 anos...ainda assim Rhodes mereceu a pena!

Everything within the walls of the castle has medieval charm, from the bars and restaurants as well as several shops.
We liked it so much Rhodes, that stupidly we missed the cruise. Advice: never, never lose the cruise, put the alarm on your phone if needed ... they give 30 minutes of tolerance (if they miss a passenger) and not a minute more. Run, scream for them to stop the boat but it was late and there is no boat that takes you on board, you have to catch a plane to the island where they will be going. Plus, there waiting for you is a "shark" of a travel agent who fools you left and right (which is what happened to us) and who does not return your passport but a photocopy and expect problems at the airport to confirm your identity ...
Cruises? Only in case of extreme necessity (which I am to find out which one) or when reaching the age of 70 ...but even so Rhodes was worth it.
