eat: NUBA - BARCELONA, ESPANHA

Numa viagem de trabalho a Barcelona fomos almoçar ao Nuba. Foi recomendado pela sua elegante esplanada e como a temperatura andava á volta dos 18º decidimos experimentar, uma pena que ainda assim o restaurante não a tinha aberta para refeições (pelo frio...disseram) e acabámos por comer na sua sala.

Nuba é um espaço multifuncional, restaurante e lounge bar com uma decoração moderna mas ainda assim acolhedora.

On a business trip to Barcelona we went to lunch at Nuba. Was recommended for its elegant terrace and as the temperature was walking around the 18th we decided to try, still a shame that the restaurant was not open for meals outside (cold said ...) and we ended up eating inside.

Nuba is a multifunctional space, restaurant and lounge bar with modern decor but still cozy.

Na nossa curta estadia em Barcelona ficámos hospedados no Grupotel Gran Via, localizado como o seu nome indica na Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes no número 678.

A localização não podia ser melhor, a zona sendo central não era demasiado agitada e em poucos minutos podíamos chegar ao Passeig de Grácia ou á Praça da Catalunha. Esta escolha permitiu-nos chegar a todo o lado a pé.

 

In our short visit to Barcelona we stayed at the Grupotel Gran Via, located like is name says in the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes in the number 678.

The location couldn't be better, the area although quite centric was not so agitaded and in few minutes we could get to the Passeig de Grácia or the Catalonia Square. Our choice allowed us to get everywhere on foot.

Para subir ao topo da Sagrada Familia podemos fazê-lo através de um elevador cujo preço não está incluído na entrada e custa 3€.

Além de nos proporcionar uma excelente vista sobre Barcelona, podemos ver mais de perto as obras de construção das torres que ao todo serão 18 das quais até agora podemos ver apenas oito completas.

 

To get into the top of the Sagrada Familia we can do it through an elevator that costs 3€ and it's not included on your entrance fee.

Besides having an excelent view over Barcelona, we could also see up close the construction work being done in the towers that in total will be 18 and that until now we can only see eight completed.

shop: AVENIDA DEL PORTAL DEL ANGEL, BARCELONA, ESPANHA

Ao sair do Barrio Gótico e a caminho da Praça da Catalunha passamos pela animada Avenida del Portal del Angel.

É uma rua pedestre e á hora que por ela passámos estava com bastante gente, a passear ou a fazer compras. Junto com a Avenida Diagonal, é considerada um grande centro comercial ao ar livre onde o metro quadrado é o segundo mais caro de Espanha.

Leaving the Barrio Gótico and heading to the Catalonia Square we walked across that agitaded Avenida del Portal del Angel.
It's a pedestrian street and at the time we walked in it it was quite crowded, strolling and shopping. Together with Diagonal avenue, it is considered a great outdoor shopping center where it's square meter is the second most expensive in Spain.

do: BAIRRO GÓTICO -BARCELONA, ESPANHA

Hoje conhecemos (ou melhor este fim de semana que passou)...o Bairro Gótico de Barcelona. Estávamos na Plaça D'Antoni Mauri e entramos numa praça onde está localizada a Catedral, mas antes mesmo de a ver passamos por um dos muitos "mercadillos de navidad" que há pela cidade.

 

Today we have discovered (or better this weekend that passed) ... the Gothic Quarter (or Barri Gótic) of Barcelona. We were at Plaça Antoni D'Mauri and we went into a square where the cathedral is located, but even before we see it we walked by one of the many "mercadillos de navidad" (christmas markets) in the city.

Falemos desta emblemática avenida de Barcelona, ampla e sempre cheia de gente que se passeia por ela enquanto vê montras de marcas como Dolce & Gabbana, Cartier, Loewe, entre outras. Já por isto sabemos logo em que tipo de rua estamos ou zona. Situada no bairro de Eixample, um dos bairros mais "posh" da cidade, é uma rua que vale não só por ver as lojas que mencionei mas principalmente para apreciar a arquitectura nela presente.

Let's talk about this famous avenue in Barcelona, wide and always filled with people walking through it while window shopping to brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Cartier, Loewe, no name a few. Just by this we already know what type of street or area we are in. Located in the Eixample neighborhood, it's one of the most posh in town, and it is a street that is worth the trip because it doesn't just have great stores but also great arquitecture.

eat: QUASI QUEVIURES - BARCELONA, ESPANHA

Hoje conhecemos o restaurante Quasi Queviures, ou o QuQu no Passeig de Grácia.

Estava com alguma fome e já tinha passado a hora de almoço quando decidimos ir tapear a este bar/restaurante. Fiquei depois a saber que pertence ao mesmo grupo da Txapela.

Nós ficámos na barra, o ambiente é muito acolhedor e colorido com os cartazes colados á parede. Os “pintxos” são bons na onda da Txapela e dali vemos directamente a cozinha o que é sempre interesante, permite-nos observar a azáfama que vai lá dentro para a confecção dos pratos.

 

Today we have discovered the restaurant Quasi Queviures, or QuQu in Passeig de Gracia.
I was hungry and it was past the lunch time when we decided to go to this bar / restaurant. I later learned that belongs to the same group of Txapela.
We stayed in the bar, the atmosphere is very cozy and colorful with the posters on the wall. The "pintxos" are good in the same wave of Txapela and thence directly see the kitchen which is always interesting, it allows us to observe the bustle that goes inside for the preparation of dishes.

Hoje conhecemos o...Parque Güell desenhado por Gaudí e que está em Barcelona.

Há várias maneiras de chegar a este parque, qualquer um dos bus turísticos param ali perto, de metro podem sair na estação de Lesseps ou de Vallscas, em qualquer das duas preparem-se para andar e subir muito. O morro tem umas escadas rolantes o que torna a coisa mais cómoda e sempre se conhece mais um bairro de Barcelona.

Today we have discovered the ... Park Güell designed by Gaudí and is in Barcelona.
There are several ways to get to this park, any of the tourist bus stop nearby, by metro you can get off at Lesseps Vallscas in any of the two prepare to walk and climb a lot in the last, the hill has some escalators which makes things more convenient and be able to discover another neighborhood of Barcelona.

Hoje conhecemos a...Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família!

A fantástica obra arquitectónica criada por Antonio Gaudi e que ainda hoje continua em construção segundo a sua maquete original (segundo é maneira de dizer, tal é a controvérsia á volta da sua construção).

Há uns anos quando visitei Barcelona a trabalho, tinha visto a Sagrada Família mas de noite, confesso que além do espanto de a ver ao vivo fiquei sempre com uma imagem de um edificio um tanto ao quanto assustador. Agora fui mesmo visitar o templo, é dificil conter o entusiasmo. E se de fora logo percebemos que é um monumento único, quando entrei tive que agarrar bem as lágrimas aos olhos...é emocionante. 

A entrada faz-se pela fachada da Paixão.

Today we know the Basilica i ... Expiatori Temple de la Sagrada Familia!
The outstanding architectural work created by Antonio Gaudi and that still today continues under construction according to his original model (according is a way to say it, there is much controversy surrounding the construction will).
Years ago when I visited Barcelona for work, had seen the Holy Family but at night, I confess that beyond the astonishment of seeing live was always a picture of a building a somewhat scary. Now we went to visit the temple, it is difficult to contain the excitement. And if from outside you soon realize that it is a unique monument, when I got in I had to grab the tears from my eyes ... it's exciting.
The entrance is through the facade of the Passion.

do: INTERIOR DA SAGRADA FAMILIA - BARCELONA, ESPANHA

Tivémos a sorte de visitar o seu interior depois de ter sido completado pela data da visita do Papa Bento XVI á cidade. Apesar de achar o projecto de Gaudí uma obra extraordinária, parece que com a construção nova versus a antiga torna tudo menos harmonioso mas o interior, para mim já é outra conversa, parece que caímos num buraco e entrámos no País das Maravilhas ou num bosque encantado. 

 

We were lucky to visit it's interior after being completed in time for the visit to Barcelona of the Pope Benedict XVI. Although I do think Gaudí's project an extraordinary work, it looks like the new construction versus the old makes everything less harmonious but the interior, is a different thing, looks like you fell into a hole and entered the Wonderland or some enchanted woods.

eat: TXAPELA - BARCELONA, ESPANHA

Este restaurante de cozinha basca, práticamente á base de tapas e pintxos, está localizado no Passeig de Grácia muito próximo da Plaza de Catalunya. Existem nesta rua dois, nós fomos ao do número 8 mas há outro mais acima do mesmo lado.

Do mesmo grupo e todos com presença na mesma avenida de Barcelona, têm também o Tapa Tapa e o QuQu.

 

This is a basque restaurant that basically serves "tapas" and "pintxos". It's located in Passeig de Grácia very close to the Plaza de Catalanya. There are two in this street, we went to the one in the number 8.

From the same group and all in this avenue, they have the Tapa Tapa and QuQu.

Ainda nos restava tempo no nosso ticket do bus turistico, decidimos utilizá-lo antes de jantar a passear por Barcelona mas há noite. Percorremos a outra linha, a azul que apanhámos no Paseig de Grácia.

Esta época de Dezembro também é interessante para visitar Barcelona, a cidade enche-se de luz por causa da "Navidad" e se já tinha encanto, só o vem reforçar.

 

Still time left in our tour bus ticket, we decided to use it before dinner strolling around Barcelona but overnight. We went through the other line, the blue that we caught in Paseig of Gracia.
This December season is also interesting to visit Barcelona, the city is filled with lights because of "Navidad" (Christmas) and if it already had charm, this only reinforces it.

Hoje conhecemos Barcelona através do Bus Turistico - Parte 1. (Post Longo)
Escrevo "Parte 1" porque aproveitámos o bilhete diário para andar nas duas linhas que tinham: a vermelha e a azul. A primeira de dia e a segunda de noite que coloco noutro post.
Eu sou fã dos bus turisticos quando não conhecemos a cidade e temos pouco tempo para a ver. Esta opção não é barata (22€ o bilhete) mas a vertente "hop & off" exactamente num ponto turistico acaba sempre por ser mais cómodo. Além disso temos um audio-guia que nos ajuda a entender um pouco da história da cidade.

 

Today we've discovered Barcelona through the Tourist Bus - Part 1. (Long Post)
I write "Part 1" because we took advantage of the daily ticket for riding on the two lines they had: red and blue. The first during the day and the second at night that I'll put in another post.
I'm a fan of bus tours when we do not know the city and we have little time to see it. This option is not cheap (22 € ticket) but the option "hop & off"  exactly at a tourist point always ends up being more convenient. In addition we have an audio guide that helps us understand some of the history of the city.
