FRONTIERLAND DISNEYLAND - PARIS, FRANÇA

 

É a zona temática dedicada ao Velho Oeste e á expansão das fronteiras norte-americanas no século XVIII e XIX. Depois de ser pirata na Adventureland aqui podemos ser um comboy. Podemos apanhar um barco a vapor - o Molly Brown - e imaginar que estamos no rio Mississipi.

Tem cerca de sete divertimentos para além de zonas que são excelentes para tirar fotografías como se estivessemos num cenário de um filme.

DISCOVERYLAND DISNEYLAND - PARIS, FRANÇA

Do que me lembrava da Discoveryland era a Spacemontain e o Autopia. O lema de esta zona é: "Dreams of the future from the past and present" e é em cheio porque tem atrações que exploram a ideia de ficção científica como se podia descobrir nos livros de Julio Verne ou entrar no mundo da Guerra das Estrelas ou mesmo chegar ao espaço através do foguetão da Space Mountain.

 

What I remembered from the Discoveryland was the Spacemontain and the Autopia. The motto of this zone is: "Dreams of the future from the past and present" and is spot on because it has attractions that explore the idea of science fiction as one could find in the books of Jules Verne or enter the Star Wars world or even get into space by rocket from space Mountain.

ADVENTURELAND DISNEYLAND - PARIS, FRANÇA

A Adventureland é uma das parte mais pequena do mundo da Disneyland Paris, tem seis divertimentos mas dois deles são dos mais frequentados do parque: o dos Piratas das Caraíbas e o do Indiana Jones e o Templo do Perigo (Peril). Este último atrai multidões e nem sempre é fácil sequer conseguir um Fastpass, é um dos favoritos dos mais crescidos (a altura minima é 1,40m) e é uma montanha russa onde entramos numa mina e temos que sobreviver á ira dos deuses.

 

The Adventureland is one of the smallest in the world of Disneyland Paris, has six rids or attractions but two of them are the most frequented of the park: the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril. The latter draws crowds and is not always easy even to get a Fastpass, is a favorite of older (the minimum height is 1.40m) and is a roller coaster where we enter a mine and have to survive the wrath of the gods.

FANTASYLAND DISNEYLAND - PARIS, FRANÇA

A primeira foto do Castelo da Bela Adormecida é a que melhor identifica a passagem á Fantasyland, o mundo que para mim é a essência da Disney, das suas primeiras histórias e personagens como Peter Pan, Pinóquio, Alice no País das Maravilhas, o Dumbo, entre outros. É também aqui que está o meu divertimento preferido: o Small World. E se procuras as pizzas com a forma do Mickey, estão aqui na pizzaria Bella Notte.

 

The first photo of Sleeping Beauty Castle is the one that best identifies the passage to Fantasyland, the world which for me is the essence of Disney, of it's early stories and characters like Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, among others. It is also here that is my favorite ride: Small World. And if you look for the pizzas with the shape of Mickey, here at the pizzeria Bella Notte.

WALT DISNEY STUDIOS (PART II) - PARIS, FRANÇA

No post anterior comecei a falar sobre o segundo parque do Walt Disney Studios que não ficou completo porque faltou falar do Toon Studio, foi a minha preferida onde passei grande parte do tempo no dia em que fomos. Aqui encontramos os personagens de Toy Story que têm a sua própria Toyland com uma boa variedade de divertimentos para todas as idades, entramos no mundo de Ratatoille e o simpático rato Remy e podemos voar com o Génio do Aladino.

 

In the previous post I started talking about the second park of Walt Disney Studios that was not complete because it missed the Toon Studio, which was my favorite area and where I spent much of the time in the day we went there. Here we find the Toy Story characters that have their own Toyland with a good variety of entertainment for all ages, we enter the world of Ratatoille and the friendly rat Remy and can fly with the Genie of Aladdin.

WALT DISNEY STUDIOS (PARTE I) - PARIS, FRANÇA

É o segundo parque temático que abriu em 2002, alguns anos depois de ter ido pela primeira vez á Disneyland Paris (na altura chamavam-lhe Eurodisney). Oferece uma visão sobre os bastidores do cinema e televisão, veículos da magia e imaginação da Walt Disney. Aqui as suas estrelas mais recentes ganham protagonismo: Woody, Buzz Lightyear, o Crush do Nemo, Ratatui, entre outros.

 

It is the second theme park that opened in 2002, some years after I went for the first time to Disneyland Paris (at the time called Eurodisney). Offers an insight into the behind the scenes of film and television, the vehicles of the magic and imagination of Walt Disney. Here their latest stars gain prominence: Woody, Buzz Lightyear, the Nemo Crush, Ratatouille, among others.

MAIN STREET USA DISNEYLAND - PARIS, FRANÇA

Das primeiras vezes que fui á Disneyland passei por todos os divertimentos ou atrações em procura de emoções fortes ou simplesmente reviver alguma história mágica mas ao regressar este ano apercebi-me que a minha zona preferida é a Main Street. É a que me faz viajar no tempo, o bilhete de entrada a um mundo de magia e tal como essas vezes, voltou a ser a protagonista das minhas fotos. Sonho viver num sitio como este, uma colorida Main Street.

 

Of the first times I will Disneyland went through all the amusements or attractions in search of strong emotions or simply relive some magic story but returning this year I realized that my favorite area is the main street. It's what makes me travel in time, the entry ticket to a world of magic and like in those times, was once again the protagonist of my photos. I dream to live in a place like this, a colorful Main Street.

NATAL NA DISNEYLAND - PARIS, FRANÇA

Feliz Dia dos Reis, a última celebração do Natal pelo menos aqui em Espanha. Em 2014 conseguimos cumprir um desejo: visitar a Disneyland Paris no Natal, dizem que é o lugar mais feliz do mundo e tinha muita curiosidade em sentir essa felicidade num entorno mais natalício. Partimos numa pequena aventura, fomos de carro de Madrid até Marne-la-Vallée com os dois pequenos para dar-lhes a conhecer o mundo imaginado por Walt Disney e seguindo o seu lema: "If you can dream it, you can do it!"

 

Happy Day of the Kings, the last celebration of Christmas at least here in Spain. In 2014 we managed to fulfill one wish: to visit Disneyland Paris at Christmas, they say it is the happiest place in the world and I was very curious to feel that happiness in a surroundings of these festivities. We left in a little adventure, we drove from Madrid to Marne-la-Vallée with two children to introduce them to the world imagined by Walt Disney and following his motto: "If you can dream it, you can do it! "

PLACE VENDÔME - PARIS, FRANÇA

Não foi a melhor altura para descubrir a Place Vendôme, uma das que sempre quis visitar quando estive em Paris mas por um motivo ou outro nunca consegui e ainda não foi desta porque uma boa parte da praça está em obras. Ainda assim não deixa de ter o seu encanto, gostei muito de a ver rodeada de elegantes edificios construídos no século XVIII durante o reinado de Luís XIV (o Rei Sol) pelo mesmo arquitecto responsável pelo Palácio de Versalhes.

 

It was not the best time to discover the Place Vendome, one that always wanted to visit when I was in Paris but for one reason or another never got to do so and still was not this time because a good part of the square is being rebuilt. Still not without its charm, I really enjoyed seing the elegant buildings that surround the square built in the eighteenth century during the reign of Louis XIV (the Sun King) by the same architect responsible for the Palace of Versailles.

eat: LA CURE GOURMANDE - PARIS, FRANÇA

Já conhecia La Cure Gourmande mas a de Madrid, a de Paris (pelo menos esta na Rue de Rivoli) não era muito diferente mas ainda assim é sempre bom estar no seu país de origem. Fundada há vinte e cinco anos em Balaruc-Les-Bains tinha como objectivo voltar á tradicional pastelaria e confeitaria vendendo bolachas e bolos de boa qualidade que além disso recuperava o conceito das caixas de metal que se tornam objectos de coleccionador.

I already knew La Cure Gourmande but the one in Madrid, Paris (at least this in Rue de Rivoli) was not much different but still it is always good to be in it's country of origin. Founded twenty-five years ago in Balaruc-Les-Bains it aimed to return to the traditional pastries and confectionary selling biscuits and good quality cakes that also recovered the concept of metal boxes that become collector's items.

do: MADELEINE - PARIS, FRANÇA

Quando vi o edificio de Madeleine pela primeira vez achei que me tinha enganado na cidade, pensei que estaria em Atenas ou talvez Roma. Dizem que foi um edificio de construção romana a Maison Carrée em Nice (ver post aqui) que serviu de inspiração para construir este templo que está dedicado a Santa Maria Madalena. Napoleão queria um monumento para homenagear o seu exército digno da grandeza do império que construiu e hoje podemos admirá-lo a poucos metros da Place de la Concorde.

 

When I first saw the building of Madeleine I thought I was in the wrong city, I thought it was Athens or maybe Rome. They say it was a building of Roman arquitecture, the Maison Carree in Nice (see post here) that served as inspiration to build this temple that is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. Napoleon wanted a monument to honor his army worthy of the greatness of the empire he built and today we can admire it a few meters from Place de la Concorde.

A nossa última visita a Paris este Verão permitiu-nos ver algumas coisas que ficaram por ver quando fomos em 2011, o interior da Ópera de Garnier foi uma delas. É um edificio tão extraordinário que me pergunto como foi possível ter aguentado tanto tempo sem vê-lo?

Inaugurada em 1875 é um excelente testemunho da paixão pelo detalhe e pelo requinte por parte dos franceses, tendo sido projectada pelo arquitecto Charles Garnier responsável pela Ópera do Mónaco.

 

Our last visit to Paris this summer allowed us to see some things left behind when we were in 2011, the interior of the Garnier Opera was one. It is such an extraordinary building that I wonder how it was possible to have endured so long without seeing it?
Inaugurated in 1875 is an excellent testimony of the passion for detail and the refinement by the French and was designed by Charles Garnier architect responsible for the Monaco Opera.

do: FÊTE DES TUILERIES - PARIS, FRANÇA

O Verão é sinónimo de festas, assim é em Portugal com as festas das aldeias, em Espanha o mesmo e onde vivemos há uma em Setembro e a grande cidade de Paris tem as Fête des Tuileries. Aproveitámos o nosso passeio pelo Jardim para passar por aqui, era cedo e o tempo ameaçava chuva por isso não estava muito cheia mas ainda assim foi óptimo para divertir-nos um pouco.

 

Summer is synonymous of festivities, so it is in Portugal with the ones done in the small villages, in Spain the same and where we live there is one in September, the great city of Paris has the Fête des Tuileries. We took our stroll through the garden to come by, it was early and the weather was threatening rain so it was not too crowded but it was still great to have a little bit of fun.

Das primeiras vezes que fiquei em Paris lembro-me que um dos meus lugares preferidos era o Jardim do Luxembourg, aquela ideia de passar uma solarenga tarde sentada numa cadeira encostada a um lago ou uma fonte a ler um livro parecia-me perfeita. O que não consigo explicar é como passei sempre pelo Jardim das Tulherias (que soa melhor em francês) e nunca parei para vê-lo com atenção, para perceber que dele consegui ter o mesmo sentimento que tive quando dei um passeio no de Luxembourg pela primeira vez.

 

Of the first times I was in Paris I remember one of my favorite places was the Garden of Luxembourg, that idea of spending a sunny afternoon sitting in a chair against a lake or a fountain to read a book seemed perfect. What I can not explain is how I passed several times by the Tuileries Garden and never stopped to see it carefully, to realize that I could have the same feeling I had when I took a walk in the Luxembourg for the first time.

eat: MAISON LANDEMAINE - PARIS, FRANÇA

O nosso hotel ficava muito perto da Rue des Martyrs, a rua com uma grande concentração de "patisseries" premiadas e "cholateriers". Não tivémos tempo de provar todas mas a Maison Landemaine foi uma das escolhidas e é impossível entrar sem querer comer muito mais do que o estômago nos está a pedir. Quando entrámos formou-se fila, grande parte para comprar pão e alguns não resistiam aos vários doces e bolos das vitrinas.

 

Our hotel was very close to the Rue des Martyrs, a street with a large concentration of award-winning "patisseries" and "cholateriers". We had no time to tasted them all but the Maison Landemaine was one of the chosen and it is impossible to enter without wanting to eat much more than in the stomach is asking. When we entered a queue was formed, largely to buy bread and some could not resist the sweets and cakes of it's windows.

eat: BLEND - PARIS, FRANÇA

A febre dos hamburgueres gourmet invadiu várias cidades europeias e Paris não foi excepção, encontrei várias opções para os comer mas acabámos por decidir ir ao Blend. Queríamos um lugar descontraído para comer dos que nos fizessem matar saudades da nossa viagem a NYC e este pareceu-nos a melhor opção. Não é muito grande e não tem muitas mesas mas o serviço é suficientemente rápido para conseguir sempre mesa nem que seja a partilhar.

 

The fever of gourmet burgers raided various European cities and Paris was no exception, I found several options to eat but ended up deciding to go to the Blend. We wanted a relaxed place to eat that to relive the memories of our trip to NYC and this seemed the best option. It is  not very large and has few tables but the service is fast enough so you can always get the table even if you have to share.

do: ROUE DE PARIS - PARIS, FRANÇA

Uma das coisas que me lembro das primeiras viagens a Paris foi a preparação que a cidade estava a fazer para a chegada de um novo Milénio, a Torre Eiffel fazia uma contagem decrescente e na Place de La Concorde no ano de 2000 foi instalada a Roda-gigante ou Roue de Paris. Desde então tornou-se ambulante e foi a várias cidades voltando á original no Natal e este Verão veio para as Fête des Tuileries.

 

One of the things I remember of my first trips to Paris was the preparations the city was doing to the arrival of a new millennium, the Eiffel Tower had a countdown and the Place de La Concorde had the Roue de Paris installed. Since then it has become a nomad and was in several cities coming back to the original city in Christmas and this summer came to the Fête des Tuileries.

do: JARDIN VILLEMIN - PARIS, FRANÇA

Muito perto do Canal Saint-Martin está este simpático jardim no qual aproveitámos para descansar um pouco deitados no relvado como se vivessemos na cidade, uma pequena pausa que nos veio mesmo a calhar porque estava a chegar ao fim a nossa viagem á França (estivémos na Normandia) e a última paragem era Paris. Foi construído onde antes existiu um convento que mais tarde se transformou em hospital durante a Guerra de 1870.

 

Very close to the Canal Saint-Martin is this nice garden where we took the opportunity to get some rest lying on the lawn as if we lived in the city, a short break came in handy because we were getting to the end of our trip to France (we were in Normandy) and the last stop was Paris. It was built where once there was a convent that later turned into a hospital during the War of 1870.

eat: PINK FLAMINGO - PARIS, FRANÇA

Depois de uma semana na Normandia a comer a típica comida da região decidimos que necesitávamos de comer uma pizza e como fomos passear ao Canal Saint Martin a escolha foi o Pink Flamingo. São uma versão irreverente do clássico italiano, ideia de dois artistas Jamie e Marie que oferecem uma carta com combinações inovadoras e surpreendentes.

Fomos ao primeiro restaurante que abriram em Paris mas têm outros na cidade e pelo que vi na sua web têm um em Valência e outro em Amsterdão.

sleep: HOTEL 3 POUSSINS - PARIS, FRANÇA

Ao organizar a nossa viagem á Normandia, marcámos voo em Paris com intenção de ficar pelo menos um dia na capital e aproveitar para conhecer melhor a zona a norte do Sena, não foi fácil encontrar um bom hotel com preços razoáveis. E foi assim que descobrimos o Hotel 3 Poussins que apesar de ter três estrelas sentimos que o tratamento foi superior á sua classificação.

A sua localização é excelente, fica na Rue Clauzel muito perto da movimentada Rue des Martyrs e a zona de Montmartre.

 

Organizing our trip to Normandy, we booked a flight to Paris with the intention of staying at least one day in the capital and get to know better the north area of the Seine, it was not easy to find a good hotel reasonably priced. And that's how we discovered the Hotel 3 Poussins that despite having three stars we felt that the treatment was superior to its rating.
 The location is excellent, it's on Rue Clauzel very close to the busy Rue des Martyrs and the Montmartre area.
