PATTY & BUN - LONDRES, INGLATERRA

Tinha visto recomendações na TimeOut sobre o Patty&Bun, falam de um dos melhores hamburguers da cidade de Londres e sentimos a obrigação de os provar. Fomos ao que está na James Street e estava cheio, gente fora á espera alguns já com um ar desesperado como no nosso caso estamos a falar de uma mesa para dois conseguimos rapidamente entrar na sua pequena sala com pouco mais de trinta lugares sentados. E quando provas os hamburguers entendes porque é que há fila fora...valem mesmo a pena.

I had seen recommendations on TimeOut about Patty & Bun, they spoke about one of the best burgers in the city of London and we felt obliged to taste them. We went to the one on James Street and was full, there were people outside waiting witha desperate look in their faces but as in our case we are talking about a table for two we could quickly enter their small room with just over thirty seats. And when you taste the hamburgers you understand why there is queue outside ... it's quite worth it.

BURGER JOINT - MADRID, ESPANHA

Assim que descobri que o Burger Joint tinha uma sucursal em Madrid não pude resistir, tínhamos que experimentar e marcou a nossa primeira gastronómica do ano na capital. Queríamos ver se eram como os do primeiro Burger Joint em Nova Iorque e já lá vão dois anos mas lembro-me exactamente de esses suculentos hamburguers que nos fizeram chupar os dedos, o mesmo não posso dizer dos de Madrid porque são ligeiramente diferentes mas são muito bons e podem competir com os melhores da cidade.

Once I discovered that the Burger Joint had a branch in Madrid I could not resist, we had to try and it was our first food experience of the new year in the capital. We wanted to see if they were as the first Burger Joint in New York and it was two years ago but I remember exactly those juicy burgers that made us lick our fingers, the same can not be said  for the ones of Madrid because they are slightly different but are very good and can compete with the best in town.

GOIKO GRILL - MADRID, ESPANHA

Tinha muita curiosidade para experimentar os hamburguers do Goiko Grill escolhidos por muitos como os melhores da cidade de Madrid. Fomos á uma da tarde do Feriado de Almudena ao que está na rua Maria de Molina e para nossa surpresa vimos que todas as mesas estavam reservadas ainda assim conseguiram uma para duas pessoas e conseguimos comprovar que os seus hamburguers são realmente bons.

I was very curious to try the burgers of the Goiko Grill chosen by many as the best of Madrid. We went there at one o'clock the Almudena holiday to the one standing on the street Maria de Molina and to our surprise we saw that all the tables were reserved but we still managed one for two people and we could check that their burgers are really good.

Tive que começar este post com o Marshall do How I Met Your Mother, principalmente porque adoro o final em que Deus fala através da comida. E acho que ele deve ser o conselheiro da Patty & Bun porque têm uns hambuguers muito mas muito bons.

"I had to start this post with Marshall How I Met Your Mother, mainly because I love the end where God speaks through food. And I think he can be the counselor of Patty & Bun because they have very very good burgers.

THE BURGER LOBBY - MAJADAHONDA, ESPANHA

Já são doze os restaurantes que existem de esta cadeia que promete hambuguers gourmet e a sua carta contém algumas receitas especiais como a que provei onde se destacam o Pedro Ximenez Burger, a Japo Burger, a Red Curry e a Tartufo mas para os que gostam das tradicionais aqui também as encontra. O espaço procura recriar um ambiente nova-iorquino copiando talvez o Shake Shack e é verdade que resulta bastante agradável.

 

There are now twelve restaurants that exist from this chain that promises gourmet hambuguers and it's menu contains some special recipes like the one I tasted with highlights like the Pedro Ximenez Burger, a Japo burger, Red Curry and the Tartufo but for those who like the traditional you can also find them here. Space seeks to recreate a New York environment copying perhaps the Shake Shack and it is true that results pretty nice.

eat: BLEND - PARIS, FRANÇA

A febre dos hamburgueres gourmet invadiu várias cidades europeias e Paris não foi excepção, encontrei várias opções para os comer mas acabámos por decidir ir ao Blend. Queríamos um lugar descontraído para comer dos que nos fizessem matar saudades da nossa viagem a NYC e este pareceu-nos a melhor opção. Não é muito grande e não tem muitas mesas mas o serviço é suficientemente rápido para conseguir sempre mesa nem que seja a partilhar.

 

The fever of gourmet burgers raided various European cities and Paris was no exception, I found several options to eat but ended up deciding to go to the Blend. We wanted a relaxed place to eat that to relive the memories of our trip to NYC and this seemed the best option. It is  not very large and has few tables but the service is fast enough so you can always get the table even if you have to share.

eat: HONORATO HAMBURGUERES ARTESANAIS - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

Fomos até á Rua da Palmeira no Principe Real para conhecer os já famosos hamburgueres artesanais do Honorato. Esta moda já se consolidou em Madrid e em Lisboa o Honorato foi um dos responsáveis de trazer um espaço cuja a estrela do ementa é um hambúrguer. Nunca visitámos o primeiro espaço que diziam ser mais pequeno mas já somos da nova geração que chega a este da Rua da Palmeira que sendo mais espaçoso não significa que em algum momento não tenhas que partilhar mesa.

BURGER JOINT - NOVA IORQUE, EUA

A nossa viagem a NYC teve a nível gastronómico algumas surpresas quando escolhemos lugares que não estavam na lista mas o Burger Joint era um que sabíamos que tínhamos que ir, estava no nosso plano e todas as recomendações eram muito boas. É verdade que já não é aquele lugar secreto para locais e já te aparece nos guias o que pode de alguma forma pôr em perigo o conceito mas continua com a sua fórmula quase “clandestina” nas traseiras da recepção do hotel Le Parker Meridien, numa sala pequena, escura com as paredes rabiscadas e posters de filmes ou séries icónicas.

Our trip to NYC had a gastronomic level some surprises when we chose places that were not on our list but the Burger Joint was one we knew we had to go it was in our plan and all the recommendations were very good. It is true that it is no longer that secret place for locals and now appears in the guides that can somehow endanger the concept but continues with its formula almost "underground" behind the reception of the hotel Le Parker Meridien, a small room, dark with scribbled walls and posters of movies or iconic series.

eat: BUNS - MADRID, ESPANHA

Tinha lido algures que aqui se serviam um dos melhores hamburguers de Madrid, reservei mesa para ir ao Buns numa sexta-feira á noite e fiquei surpreendida por ver que não estava assim tão cheio. Fica no bairro de Salamanca e a sua decoração está dentro da linha de um "diner" vintage americano. 

A carta na parte de hamburguers não era muito extensa mas ficou comprovada a sua qualidade com uma carne galega muito boa, ficaram por provar os cachorros quentes que dizem ser bons.

I had read somewhere that they served here one of the best burgers in Madrid, booked a table to go to Buns on a Friday night and I was surprised to see that it was not so full. Is in the Salamanca neighborhood and its decor is within a vintage "diner" American line. 

The menu it terms of hamburgers was not very extensive but it has proved its quality with a very good meat from Galicia, next time we need to taste the hot dogs that some say are good.

eat: COSTELLO RIO - MADRID, ESPANHA

Encontrei o Costello Rio num blog que o recomendava para levar crianças e tinha a vantagem que ficava junto ao Matadero e Madrid Rio o que nos permitiu levar bicicletas para depois do almoço dar um passeio pela zona. 

Está bastante adaptado para crianças, o que pode ser bom ou mau dependendo da perspectiva. Há espaço para os carrinhos de bébé, estacionamos a bicicleta do mais velho e tinha cadeirinhas.

 

I found the Costello Rio in a blog that recommended it to bring children and had the advantage that it was nearby the Matadero and the Madrid Rio which allowed us to take bikes so after lunch we could take a stroll through the area.
Is very suitable for children, which can be good or bad depending on your perspective. There is room for the baby cars, we parked the bike and had baby chairs.

eat: CAIS DA PEDRA - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

Cá por Madrid os hamburguers (principalmente os gourmet) continuam na moda e são o tema de novos restaurantes. Em Lisboa pelos vistos também estão e seguramente o Cais da Pedra ajudará a construir a reputação de um formato dominado pelas cadeias de fast-food.

Devo admitir que quando marquei mesa no Cais nem sabia que o prato principal era esse, sabia apenas que era do Henrique Sá Pessoa e como tive uma boa experiência no Alma decidi experimentar. Foi num dia especial (o meu aniversário), fui com amigos o que o melhorou e muito a nossa experiência.

 

In Madrid the burgers (especially gourmet) are still popular and are the topic of new restaurants. In Lisbon apparently are also and surely Cais da Pedra will help build the reputation of a format dominated by fast-food chains.
I must admit that when I booked a table at the Cais I did not even know this was the main course, I knew only that it was Henrique Sá Pessoa and as I had a good experience at Alma so I decided to try. It was a special day (my birthday), I went with friends which improved and much our experience.

eat: BUGO ART BURGERS - PORTO, PORTUGAL

Os hamburguers (sem ser os de fast-food) estão na moda, em Madrid estão á algum tempo em Portugal não saberia dizer mas do pouco que vejo tanto em Lisboa como no Porto já começam a aparecer restaurantes dedicados á arte de servir um bom hamburguer.

Talvez seja culpa do Marshall do "How I Met Your Mother" e do seu discurso sobre o melhor hamburguer de Nova Iorque onde dizia: "This is no mere sandwich of grilled meat and toasted bread, Robin. This is God, speaking to us in food".

 

The burgers (without the fast-food) are in fashion, there are for a while in Madrid and in Portugal I can't really tell but for the little I see of both Lisbon and Porto it's already starting to open restaurants dedicated to the art of serving a good burger .
Maybe it's the fault of Marshall's from "How I Met Your Mother" and his speech on the best burger in New York where he said: "This is no mere sandwich of grilled meat and toasted bread, Robin. This is God, speaking to us in food ".

eat: PEGGY SUE - MADRID, ESPANHA

Eu precisava de ir ás compras e quis ir ao centro de Madrid. Gosto muito da zona da Princesa porque é logo á entrada da cidade e acaba por ser mais perto para nós. Aproveitámos também esta nossa ida para jantar e eu tinha encontrado várias referências na internet aos restaurantes Peggy Sue pelos seus hamburguers. 

O mais perto era este da Calle Santa Cruz de Macenado e o nome já dá uma pista: Peggy Sue, American Diner. Antes de ir vi o site e gostei imenso, é mesmo representativo dos "diners" tão famosos nos anos 50. Parece que estamos no "Regresso ao Passado" e a qualquer momento pode entrar o Michael J. Fox.

I needed to go shopping and wanted to go to the center of Madrid. I love the Princess area because is right at the entrance of the city and ends up being closer to us. Since we were there we want to have dinner and I had found several references on the internet to Peggy Sue restaurants for their hamburgers.
The closest was this in the Calle Santa Cruz de Macenado the name already gives a clue: Peggy Sue, American Diner. Before going I saw the website and I liked it, is really representative of the "diners" that were so famous in the 50s. Looks like we're in "Back to the Future" and anytime Michael J. Fox can walk in.

ALFREDO'S BARBACOA - MADRID, ESPANHA

Quem nos levou foi um espanhol que nos dizia que têm os melhores hamburguers de Madrid.

Ao que parece são mesmo conhecidos por isso e a um Domingo (de entrada em semana santa) estava cheio, muito cheio com imensa gente á espera (e disposta a esperar o tempo que fosse). Fiquei logo impressionada. Segundo percebi foi fundado por um norte-americano, que se apaixonou por Madrid e decidiu montar aqui um restaurante. O espaço é apertado, parecia uma tasca mas claramente de inspiração norte-americana, pelas paredes espalhavam-se anúncios antigos (anos 50 e 60), bandeiras dos EUA, placas com índios.
