PICSA - MADRID, ESPANHA

Antes de um passeio pelo Retiro procurava um restaurante novo que pudesse ir com os nossos filhos, queria algo descontraído e que tivesse comida que gostam mas que fosse ao mesmo tempo diferente para nós, o Picsa foi um acerto nesse sentido. É uma pizzaria argentina com uma grande variedade á escolha e com uma curiosidade que é a adaptação de um conceito "mezze" - que são a versão de tapas de países como Líbano, Grécia e Turquia - ao estilo de cozinha argentino.

 

Before a tour by the Retiro I was looking for a new restaurant that we could go with our children, wanted something relaxed and  that had food they like but it was the same time different for us, the Picsa was a hit in that direction. It is an Argentine pizzeria with a wide range of choice and with a curiosity that is an adaptation of a concept "mezze" - which are the tapas version of countries like Lebanon, Greece and Turkey - to the Argentine style of cooking.

LOU MALNATI'S PIZZERIA - CHICAGO, EUA

Ficou em aberto (pelo menos para mim) a discussão da melhor Deep Dish Pizza de Chicago, há quem diga que a original será sempre a melhor e essa só comemos na Pizzeria Uno que eu tinha na esquina da rua do meu hotel ainda assim decidi aceitar a sugestão de uma colega de trabalho americana que disse: "As melhores são as do Lou Malnati". Têm vários restaurantes mas o que visitei ficava no South Loop.

 

Remained open (at least for me) the discussion of the best Deep Dish Pizza Chicago, some say that the original is always the best and that we can only eat at Pizzeria Uno that was close to my hotel's street corner yet decided to accept the suggestion of an American co-worker who said, "the best are the ones from Lou Malnati". They have several restaurants but the one I visited was in the South Loop.

LA MANO DE PABLO - MADRID, ESPANHA

Descobri La Mano de Pablo por acaso, no fim de semana antes de uma viagem de trabalho quis ir passear com a familia ao Parque Juan Carlos I (ver post aqui) e enquanto procurava um lugar para almoçar lembrei-me de uma casa de hamburguers que está na zona de Las Tablas que também tenho ao pé do lugar onde trabalho. Para nossa surpresa estava fechado, era Domingo e não entendi bem porquê mas foi o que nos fez chegar até este restaurante uruguaio. Foi uma excelente descoberta porque gostámos do que comemos e do serviço.

I discovered La Mano de Pablo by chance, on the weekend before a business trip I wanted to go sightseeing with family to Juan Carlos I Park (see post here) and while looking for somewhere to have lunch I remembered a hamburger house that is in the Las Tablas area that also exists near the place where I work. To our surprise it was closed, it was Sunday and did not understand why but that's what made us reach this Uruguayan restaurant. It was a great discovery because we liked what we eat and the service.

eat: AL CUADRADO - MADRID, ESPANHA

Fizémos um passeio em familia pelo bairro de Malasaña, normalmente vamos mais cedo para conseguir entrar no restaurante que queremos evitando a hora de ponta mas hoje não foi assim e dos poucos que tinha mesa disponível era a pizzaria Al Cuadrado. Segue o conceito das pizzas vendidas ao quadrado mas com receitas e combinações inovadoras ou pelo menos fora do comum.

 

We took a family walk through the Malasaña neighborhood, usually we go early to get into the restaurant we want avoiding rush hour but today was not so and one of the few that had table available was the pizzeria Al Cuadrado. It has the concept of pizzas sold in squares but with inovative recipes and combinations or at least out of the ordinary.

eat: LAMUCCA DE PRADO - MADRID, ESPANHA

O primeiro Lamucca que conheci foi o da Calle Pez, foi em 2010 e tinha acabado de chegar a Madrid. Era na altura um dos sitios da moda e quatro anos mais tarde, depois de visitar o que está na Calle Prado continua a ser bastante concorrido. Tem várias coisas a seu favor, a primeira é o seu ambiente descontraído, depois a sua comida e a variedade que encontramos na carta. Outro ponto é que é óptimo para levar crianças e foi uma excelente solução quando procurámos um restaurante para comer com os nossos filhos.

 

The first I met was the Lamucca Calle Pez was in 2010 and had just arrived in Madrid. It was then one of the fashion sites and four years later, after visiting what is in Calle Prado continues to be very busy. Has several things going for it, the first is its relaxed atmosphere, then the food and the variety we find in the menu. Another point is that it is great for taking children and was an excellent solution when we tried a restaurant to eat with our children.

eat: PINK FLAMINGO - PARIS, FRANÇA

Depois de uma semana na Normandia a comer a típica comida da região decidimos que necesitávamos de comer uma pizza e como fomos passear ao Canal Saint Martin a escolha foi o Pink Flamingo. São uma versão irreverente do clássico italiano, ideia de dois artistas Jamie e Marie que oferecem uma carta com combinações inovadoras e surpreendentes.

Fomos ao primeiro restaurante que abriram em Paris mas têm outros na cidade e pelo que vi na sua web têm um em Valência e outro em Amsterdão.

eat: IL REGNO DI NAPOLI - MADRID, ESPANHA

Passeando pelo bairro da Malasaña tivémos um desejo de comer pizza e ao pesquisar encontrámos o Il Regno de Napoli perto da Praça do 2 de Maio. Não é muito grande por isso convém reservar mesa e a sua decoração é bastante simples em linha com muitos restaurantes italianos genuínos mais preocupados com o valor da comida que com o entorno em que a servem.

 

Strolling through the Malasaña neighborhood we had a sudden desire to eat pizza and searching for it we found the Il Regno Napoli near the Square 2 de Maio. Not very big so it is worth booking a table and the decor is quite simple in line with many authentic Italian restaurants concerned about the quality of their food than the environment in which they serve it.

eat: GRAJOS - FORMIGAL, ESPANHA

O Grajos foi o primeiro restaurante ao qual batemos á porta no dia que chegámos ao Formigal, famintos e que nos fez ir ao Soul Café porque a cozinha só abria ás 20h30. É uma das coisas que gosto de umas férias na neve é o ambiente informal de muitos dos seus restaurantes, afinal vais para petiscar e conversar sobre os grandes feitos na pista, o Grajos encaixa nesse perfil descontraído, mas sem descuidar da qualidade da sua comida.

 

Grajos was the first restaurant we went on the day that we arrived at Formigal, hungry, and that made us go to Soul Café because the kitchen only opened at 20.30. It's one of the things I like in a snow vacation the informal setting of many of its restaurants, you go to snack and talk about the great deeds you did on the track, the Grajos fit into that relaxed profile, but without neglecting the quality of its food.

eat: TRATTORIA DON LISANDER - MADRID, ESPANHA

O Don Lisander estava há muito tempo no nosso destino, desde o primeiro dia que o vi ao sair de uma reunião de trabalho em que uma colega o recomendou, a ter lido sobre o restaurante num blog, a ter estado á sua porta mas estar cheio, a terem recomendado ao marido, etc.. Algo nos ligava a ele e ontem fomos descubrir o quê. Depois da procura do melhor indiano de Madrid (e de termos encontrado um que nos enche as medidas) temos que dedicar 2014 á procura do melhor italiano e para já o Don Lisander ganha, sem esquecer das pizzas do Pizzaiolo que também estão no top.

 

The Don Lisander was for a long time in our destiny, since the first day I saw it when leaving a meeting where a colleague recommended it, having read about the restaurant in a blog, to have been on it's door but was filled , it was recommended to my husband, etc. .. Something connected us to it and yesterday we discover what. After searching for the best Indian of Madrid (and we found one that fills our cup)we will have to dedicate 2014 looking for the best Italian and right now Don Lisander is the winner, without forgetting the pizzas from Pizzaiolo that are also in the top.

eat: PIZZERIA MEZZOGIORNO - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

A Mezzogiorno foi outro restaurante que não estava nos nossos planos e aconteceu porque tivémos que prolongar a nossa reunião no hotel e no dia que estava a pesquisar restaurantes vi no Google maps este. Depois de um dia a provar a culinária portuguesa optámos por almoçar neste italiano cujo seu melhor cartão de visita é o forno a lenha que podemos ver assim que descemos as escadas.

 

The Mezzogiorno was another restaurant that was not in our plans and it happened because we had to extend our meeting at the hotel and in the day that I was searching for restaurants I saw this on Google maps. After a day tasting the Portuguese cuisine we opted for lunch at this Italian whose best visit card is the woodstove that we can see going down the stairs.

eat: KILÓMETROS DE PIZZA - MADRID, ESPANHA

Sendo uma novidade por terras madrilenas o "Kilómetros de Pizza" é esteticamente um espaço acolhedor, amplo e com muita luz. As cadeiras lembram o mobiliário das aulas da primária - o espaço é convidativo a uma refeição prolongada e vários dedos de conversa.

Com dois espaços distintos - mesas no interior e exterior, proporciona ainda uma vista para a cozinha e para a preparação dos metros de pizza mesmo antes de estes entrarem no forno ao seu tamanho e medida!

 

Being a novelty on the Madrid territory the "Kilometers of Pizza" is aesthetically a cozy, spacious and bright. The chairs remind the furniture of primary school - the space is inviting to a prolonged meal and a great chat.
With two distinct spaces - tables inside and outside, also provides a view of the kitchen and the preparation of meters of pizza even before they enter the oven with its size and measure!

eat: PIZZERIA DI GENNARO - MILÃO, ITÁLIA

 

Milão deve ter mil restaurantes que dizem ter a melhor pizza da cidade, o Di Gennaro talvez seja um deles e o melhor de o termos conhecido nem foi a comida, foi que não estava no plano e foi toda uma descoberta...para nós! Para mim é uma pizzería á italiana, o "sr. Gennaro" recebe-te á porta sempre com muita pressa mas sem perder um pingo de simpatía, quando vê o bébé acelera o passo para que nos sentemos o quanto antes, ainda nem provámos as pizzas e já nem queremos saber se são as melhores, o Di Gennaro conquista pela simpatía e por aquele toque típico italiano (sem as toalhas de xadrez) que parece que só vês nos filmes mas que afinal existe.

 

Milan must have a thousand restaurants that say they have the best pizza in town, Di Gennaro is perhaps one of them but the best of eating here was not even tasting the food it was that it was not in the plan and all was ... a discovery for us! To me it is a true Italian pizzería, the "Mr. Gennaro" meets you at the door in a hurry but always without losing an ounce of sympathy when he sees the baby he accelerates the pace to sit us as soon as possible, we hadn't tasted the pizzas and do not even know if they are the best, Di Gennaro conquered us by it's sympathy and by that typical Italian touch (no towels chess) it seems that you only see it in movies but it actually exists.

eat: 081 NAPOLI - EL ESCORIAL, ESPANHA

Quando vi que este Domingo o tempo ia oferecer-nos um céu limpo não hesitei em planificar um passeio para os lados da serra e aproveitar para conhecer o Valle de los Caídos. Pesquisei na internet uma opção de um bom restaurante na zona do El Escorial mas que não fosse muito caro...parecía missão impossível mas encontrámos o 081 Napoli.

É mais um restaurante italiano a juntar á nossa lista, gerido por italianos foi como se estivéssemos a comer lá porque as pizzas eram de boa qualidade e foi em conta porque pagámos 14€ por pessoa.

 

When I saw that this Sunday the weather was going to offer us a clear sky I did not hesitate to plan a trip to the mountain and get to know the Valley of the Fallen. I searched the internet for a good option restaurant in the area of ​​El Escorial but that was not too expensive ... it looked like mission impossible but we found the 081 Napoli.
It's an Italian restaurant to join to our list, run by Italians and it was as if we were eating there because the pizzas were of good quality and at a average price because we paid around 14€ per person.

eat: PIZZA' - FLORENÇA, ITÁLIA

Passeávamos pela Via dei Calzaiuoli rumo ao Duomo quando encontrámos esta pizzaria com o (original) nome de pizzÁ. Na altura havia uma grande fila e se tivéssemos passado a outra hora que não a do lanche teríamos entrado para comer.

No dia seguinte tínhamos que comer rápido porque tínhamos a visita da Galeria Uffizi e voltámos aqui. Há porta dois anuncios antigos de uma marca de cerveja italiana (a Poretti) dão as boas vindas.

 

We walked down Via dei Calzaiuoli towards the Duomo when we found this pizzaria with the (original) name of pizzÁ. At the time there was a big queue and if we had passed by it in another hour tan the snack time we would have entered to eat.
The next day we had to eat fast because we had to visit the Uffizi Gallery and we came back here. At the door there are two vintage ads for a brand of Italian beer (the Poretti) to welcome you. 

eat: PIZZARIA LISBOA - LISBOA, PORTUGAL

A Pizzaria Lisboa é o primeiro restaurante do Zé Avillez que vou. É estranho porque é o último que abriu e não é nem alta cozinha, nem comida tradicional portuguesa, é uma pizzaria. O seu sonho de criança segundo pude ler.

Entrámos, sem reserva e conseguimos mesa. Tem bom ambiente e está na moda como o vizinho Cantinho de Avillez, por lá encontras algum famoso sentado numa mesa perto da janela a tentar passar despercebido.

 

The Pizzaria Lisboa is the first restaurant that I visited from Zé Avillez. It's weird because it's the last one that he opened and it's not haute cuisine, or traditional Portuguese food, it's a pizzeria. His childhood dream has I could read.
We entered without a reservation and got a table. It has good atmosphere and is trendy as the neighbor's Cantinho de Avillez, there you can find some famous sitting at a table near the window trying to be unnoticed.

eat: CAPITOLINA - MAJADAHONDA, ESPANHA

Em retrospectiva fomos a mais restaurantes italianos ou pizzarias em Majadahonda que a qualquer outro tipo, não ajuda o facto de termos ido a dois em pouco menos que uma semana. Primeiro o Rigatoni e agora o Capitolina, um que dizem os locais que é de "toda la vida". Muitos são habituais, vêm pela comida que mantém a qualidade de sempre e pelo tratamento que recebem, nós não pertencendo a esse grupo fomos igualmente bem recebidos.

Entre ficar dentro ou fora, preferimos aproveitar um dos primeiros verdadeiros días de Primavera para comer ao ar livre na sua agradável esplanada que encheu num abrir e fechar de olhos. 

In retrospect we went to more Italian restaurants and pizzerias in Majadahonda than any other kind, does not help the fact that we have gone to two in a little less than a week. First the Rigatoni and now the Capitoline, one that the locals say it is "de toda la vida". Many are usual customers, they come for the food that always keeps the same quality and the treatment they receive, although we didn't belong to this group were equally well received.
Between being inside or outside, we prefer to enjoy one of the first real days of spring to eat outdoors in its pleasant terrace that filled in the twinkling of an eye.

eat: RIGATONI - MAJADAHONDA, ESPANHA

No Dia da Mãe a familia (todos menos o gato) levou-me a almoçar ao Rigatoni. Já conhecíamos um restaurante italiano do grupo, o Pulcinella que está no centro de Madrid e que gostámos porque nos pareceu ser do mais autêntico que pode haver principalmente quando és atendido por italianos.

Este fica mais perto de casa e decidimos experimentar, se é igual ao seu "irmão" de Madrid perdemos menos tempo a ir a um bom italiano. Problema? Domingo e Dia da Mãe, estava cheio mas mesmo assim conseguimos mesa nesta esplanada lateral.

 

On Mother's Day the family (all except the cat) took me to lunch at Rigatoni. We already knew a restaurant from this Italian group, the Pulcinella at the center of Madrid and we liked because it seemed to be the most authentic that it can be especially when you the waiters are Italians.
This one is closer to home and we decided to try, if it is equal to its "brother" of Madrid we lose less time to go to a good Italian. Problem? Sunday and Mother's Day it was full but still managed to table in this side terrace.

eat: MERCATO - ROMA, ITÁLIA

Depois de um decepcionante jantar na Piazza Navona (sim caímos na ratoeira turística mas com atenuantes...estávamos famintos e ficava de caminho), fomos ao Campo di Fiori uma zona muito recomendada para jantar e não tão turística como a Piazza Navona se é que isso é possível na cidade de Roma.

After a disappointing dinner in Piazza Navona (yes we fell into a tourist trap but with mitigating circumstances ... we were hungry and it s on our way), we went to the Campo di Fiori a zone highly recommended for dinner and not as touristy as the Piazza Navona if this is possible in the city of Rome.

eat: PIZZERIA LA TRATTORIA - BIARRITZ, FRANÇA

Bem sabemos que com tantos restaurantes excelentes em Biarritz comer numa pizzaria é quase criminoso. Sabemos. Mas depois de uma larga viagem por França de repente deu-nos aquela saudade de comer uma pizza. Devemos ter algo de italiano no nosso ADN. 

Passeávamos pela elegante Avenida Eduardo VII, por cima da linha do mar e onde estão algumas lojas de roupa que albergam marcas de luxo quando nos bateu a fome. Dentro de umas arcadas vimos Pizzeria e já nem conseguimos sentir o cheiro de qualquer outro restaurante. 

 

We know that with so many excellent restaurants in Biarritz eating in a pizzeria is almost criminal. We know. But after a long journey through France suddenly made us want to eat pizza. We should have something Italian in our DNA.
Navigated by the elegant Avenue Edward VII, above the line of the sea and where some clothing stores that house luxury brands are when we realised we were starving. Within an arcade we saw a Pizzeria and we couldn't smell any other restaurant.

eat: TAVERNA PARIONE - ROMA, ITÁLIA

 

Depois de uma manhã visitando o Vaticano e o Castelo Sant' Angelo, precisávamos de "combustível" e queríamos algo específico...Pizza! Desde que chegámos a Roma ainda não tínhamos comido uma assim que era apenas justo exigir uma para o almoço.

Caminhávamos pela bairro de Ponte e Parioni com o objectivo de chegar á rua do Governo Vecchio onde dizem há muitas de grande qualidade mas quando lá chegámos (e já tínhamos visto esta Taverna Parione) decidimos voltar á Via de Parione e comer na primeira pizzaria que tínhamos visto. 

 

After a morning visiting the Vatican and Castel Sant 'Angelo, we needed "fuel" and wanted something specific ... Pizza! Since we arrived in Rome we had not eaten one so it was only fair to require it for lunch.
Walked through the neighborhood of Ponte and Parioni in order to get to the street of the Governo Vecchio where they say there are lots of great quality pizzas but when we got there (and we had already seen this Taverna Parione) decided to go back to Via Parione and eat in the first pizzeria that we had seen.
