I confess that our first visit was not very well planned in terms of time because without a doubt that it would be interesting to visit the interior of the Palace and we ended up staying longer in the gardens. The sun did not smile and I believe that they would gain more splendor if so. Anyway it was enough to know a little more and want a next visit son.

As soon as we stopped the car we realized the size of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, which is undoubtedly the main attraction. Its construction is due to King Philip II, but it wasn't in his reign that the Palace was completed because the architect responsable for the Project died before finishing. Several kings showed their interest in the construction and expansion that makes this palace what it is today.
On the right we see the Palace House Offices y Caballeros, which housed the nobility when they followed the kings to Aranjuez.

But before we even visit this area and the time it was we went to eat first. Along the way we found a square and in one end there was the Church of St. Anthony.
I admit I had not even realized it was a church, does not have the traditional features of one. On one side of the square is the Garden of Isabel II and then we walked through an archway at the rear of the House of Offices to reach the palace gardens. We entered the Garden del Parterre.

In this area of the garden you can see the river and beyond a colorful variety of flowers, there are many statues and fountains. The first that we see going in is of Hercules and Antaeus, but in the center of the garden is one of the few active with several jets of water. This is the Fountain of Ceres.
In the center is the Goddess Ceres in Greek mythology that represents the motherly love and was also the goddess of plants, they say the word cereal derives from her name.

On the right side where we enter the Garden of Isla / Island, which earns this name by being surrounded by the Tagus. Its size is impressive and here we are now in an area with trees more bushy, ideal for refreshing their Royal Highnesses.
Do not miss the statues allusive to the Greek mythology such as Hercules and Hydra, or even the source of Venus, where the water ran through her hair.
For its beauty, I can imagine that the Valentine day has few visitors, it does not lack romance. Once you walk through the garden we realized it would already be too late for a visit to the interior, we passed by the Plaza de Armas where we see the main entrance of the Palace.
