São a Asinelli e a Garisenda. Na época da sua construção (século XII) eram símbolos do poder das varias familias que dominavam a cidade de Bolonha e eram utilizadas como postos defensivos.
Hoje é possível subir ao topo da Asinelli, são quase quinhentos degraus e 97 metros de altura. Quando visitámos Bolonha decorriam obras de recuperação.
