Este pequeno triângulo que assiste ao encontro de dois canais: o Grand e o Giudecca tornou-se num dos centros culturais e artísticos mais interessantes.

E enquanto passeias pelo Grand Canal a bordo do vaporetto vais dizendo: "Temos que ir aqui e ali e aqui e ali", este é um dos sitios que apontas na tua agenda para ver quando sais do barco. Na ponta do bairro do Dorsoduro instala-se no século XV a alfândega para tudo o que viesse de barco e ao longo dos séculos viveu várias obras de restauro. No seu interior estão as obras colecionadas por François Pinault que decidiu fazer da antiga alfândega a sede da sua fundação.
Ao seu lado a Basilica de Santa Maria della Salute, é uma obra do estilo barroco construída no século XVII e dedicada á Virgem Maria. Foi construída depois da peste ter morto milhares de venezianos e de ter sido feita uma promessa á Virgem de erguer um monumento em sua honra caso terminasse a praga que se espalhou pela cidade.
