This is quite an unique place in Madrid, wether you are a local or an expat living here, we did saw italians, americans and of course...portuguese! On our next visit we need to try the mojito.
We had left
our oldest son in an activity at the Grey Elephant so we decided to take a walk in the area and close by there is the Plaza de la Paja where you can find one of the most famous and hip cafes in town: Delic.
Delic is a Café bar known for it's Mojito's and cool setting, it is recommend is several (good) travel guides and rightly so. I think it might be also famous for it's carrot cake (tarta de zanahoria) because everyone was having it.
The banana and "dulce de leche" (milk candy or caramel fudge) cake was recommended to us so we decided: one of each to have a taste!!!
You look at the prices and you think: "Six euros for a slice of cake?", well think twice because it is a huge slice of cake and most people were sharing, so if you order just one for a couple it is more than enough.
Big fans of the carrot cake, the banana one...well not so much, it was good but not as good as the other.
The decoration is french inspired and all over the walls you could see vintage pictures and also some of the best reviews on the place framed for you to have the confirmation that you are in a recommended place.
There are also tables outside, their "terraza" is very popular during the summer, in the winter is for the brave ones!!! I confess...we weren't so brave!
