I return to the posts about Florence, I still have much more to tell about this city. I really wanted to write about this basilica because it was my favorite church and even as I was editing the potos I was thrilled to relive the feeling of having visited it.
The Duomo is fantastic on outside but Santa Maria Novella although it doesn't have the same size and grandeur exterior, hides inside riches that the interior of the Duomo will never be able to achieve.
And even better is the expectation, going without much knowledge about this and we had been at the Basilica of Siena which is extraordinary. Against all odds I wondered through Santa Maria Novella with the enthusiasm of a child at Disney. Each chapel with its frescoes, each frame, the altar worked marble cloister, etc. .. Each one will live this visit experience differently I was worshiping it.
The Gothic nave is decorated with white and gray marble, one of its centerpieces is the Crucifix of Giotto dating from 1290.

Passing the nave we arrive at the altar and the chapels, where one doesn't even know very well what is the most beautiful because they all have frescoes (some in better condition than others) and all tell a story that makes you want to stay there all day reading it.

Also noteworthy is the frescoes of the adjacent chapels, the Chapel of the Strozzi and the Chapel Gaddi that despite being in worse condition than others it is still relevant.

We left the church towards the Cloister thinking that it would be the end of our visit and already satisfied with what we had seen but there was more. They call it the Green Cloister by the frescoes created by Paolo Uccello.
There is also the Cloister of the Dead where we can see the tombs of nobles and influential families of Florence, many are recent and some have left us a lump in the throat because they were kids and decorate with their profiles in marble.
In the Spanish Chapel found another set of frescoes equally impressive. Cosimo I had them built dedicating it to his wife, Eleonora of Toledo.
