O La Mescita foi um acidente, daqueles que acontece e acabas satisfeito por que achas que descobriste um lugar secreto. Depois vês o autocolante do Tripadvisor, não foste o único. Procurávamos outro restaurante quando encontrámos uma pequena praça onde se desmontava um mercado, ainda resistiam algumas bancadas e em frente estava esta Osteria.
Espreitámos e não estava muito cheia, ficámos ali a olhar para a ementa uns bons minutos até que algo nos fez entrar, nem sei bem o quê e seguramente que não foi o amontoado de autocolantes que recomendam o restaurante.

Estar longe do circuito turístico normal deve ser o motivo pelo o qual só tinha uma mesa ocupada por italianos, os donos estavam numa mesa sentada ao nosso lado e iam-se levantando á medida que pedíamos ou que vinha comida. O lugar é único, com mesas de madeira tosca como se fosse antiga taberna que é (existe desde 1902), eu estava a adorar...este era o meu lugar, informal, moderno mas respeitando o antigo. E a comida?
Quando me entregam o menú numa folha A4 manuscrita fiquei assustada, que fizémos? Para começar pedimos um queijo Pecorino no forno em cama de grelos, óptimo. Podíamos respirar fundo, este lugar era genuíno e a sua comida não nos desiludiu.
Veio depois um Ragout com massa fresca e um risotto de radicchio trevisano (uma chicória com a folha roxa típica de Treviso). Gostámos de tudo mas já não havia espaço para a sobremesa.
La Mescita ensinou-nos que vale a pena entrar pelas ruelas desconhecidas de Pisa para descubrir sabores autênticos e sem pagar muito porque os pratos rondavam os 8€, pelo menos á hora de almoço.
Being away from the usual tourist circuit must be the reason why it had only one table occupied by Italians, the owners were sitting at a table next to us and got up whenever we order something or the food was coming. The place is unique, with rough wooden tables as the old tavern that is (there since 1902), I was loving it ... this was my kind of place, informal, modern but respecting the old. And the food?
When they gave us the handwritten menu on an A4 sheet I was scared, what have we done? To start we ordered a Pecorino cheese in the oven on a bed of greens, it was great. We could take a deep breath, this place was genuine and their food did not disappoint.
Then come a ragout with fresh pasta and aTrevisan radicchio (chicory one with the purple leaf typical Treviso) risotto . We liked everything but there was no room for dessert.
La Mescita taught us that it is worth entering the unknown streets of Pisa to discover authentic flavors without paying too much because the dishes were around € 8, at least lunchtime they were.

Hummm Esses pratos!!! Acho que a gastronomia italiana é uma das melhores! Isso sim é dificil de encontrar restaurantes realmente bons!

Sim e mesmo em Itália podes apanhar uma decepção, este não foi o caso felizmente, talvez seja da Toscana mas gostámos de todos os restaurantes que fomos, em Roma por exemplo comemos em algum que não gostámos. ;)
