Para os que procuram a tradicional foto no I amsterdam e não a tiraram por exemplo no aeroporto, a Museumplein (ou Praça dos Museus) oferece um excelente cenário com vista para o famoso Rijksmuseum. Mas mais que praça eu diría que é um parque porque tem um excelente relvado com algum arvoredo e foi um dos sitios mais agradáveis para dar um passeio.
For those looking for the traditional photo in the I amsterdam and didn't took it for eg at the airport, the Museumplein (Museum Square or) offers a great setting overlooking the famous Rijksmuseum. But more than that I would say the square is a park because it has a great lawn and was one of the nicest places to take a walk.
É um centro cultural e de lazer, á sua volta para além do Rijksmuseum que já referi está também o Museu Van Gogh cujo nome dispensa qualquer tipo de descrição, o Museu Stedelijk de arte contemporânea e a sala de concertos Concertgebouw.
Em 1883 teve aqui lugar uma feira mundial de exportações principalmente dedicada ás colónias, alguns dos seus edificios foram construídos por essa data ou posteriormente como aconteceu por exemplo noutras exibições mundiais.
A zona de lazer inclui um skate park, um campo de basquetebol, o lago que hoje alberga esculturas artísticas é no inverno utilizado para patinagem no gelo. Também se realização aqui concertos e eventos culturais ou até de carácter político mas a mim o que mais me apetecia fazer quando fomos ao final da tarde e sol ainda brilhava era estender uma manta e fazer um piquenique.

The recreation area includes a skate park, a basketball court, a lake that now houses artistic sculptures but is used in winter for ice skating. Also here they have concerts and cultural events or even political but to me what I really wanted to do when we were in the late afternoon and the sun was still shining was to lay a blanket on the lawn and have a picnic.
