Last year, while on maternity leave I visited the Cerralbo Museum and I realized that I love to visit museums that are houses. In fact I was always very curious to know how the society lived in the nineteenth century and the Romanticism Museum attempts to recreate that era with several pieces of an avid collector: the Marquis de la Vega-Inclan.
Several rooms gather objects from this era of Romanticism placed in order to recreate the daily life and the various functions that each zone had from the Foyer to the Ballroom through the Dining Room and the bedrooms.
They say the marquis was an eccentric collector and the driver of tourism in Spain was behind the transformation of underutilized historic buildings into hotels some of which are today Paradores. His passion for the arts is seen in the extensive collection that we can enjoy here and the house in Toledo that he ordered to open as a museum to house the art of El Greco.
After the visit we took the opportunity to drink some tea and eat a slice of cake at the Café del Jardin which is inserted in the courtyard of the museum and also we saw the exhibition of the Portuguese artist Domingos Sequeira.
