The Insólito (Unusual) is truly unusual ... maybe because it is decorated in a weird way achieving a great combination of colors, tiles and even textures. Located on the top floor of a building next door to the The Independent and belongs to it, some say its strong point is the terrace but as I went to dinner with the company it was closed because we were still in winter. It was a shame because I could see that it has one of the best views of the city the same as the S. Pedro de Alcantara belvedere but with a height advantage.
The relaxed and even irreverent atmosphere is inviting, we were in a large communal table on the inside and the rest of the group stayed out on the terrace (they complained it was a bit cold), also we could see the chef Nuno Bandeira de Lima that some times passed by the bar. As for the food it was great and in great quantity, first came an excellent salad coleslaw style with toasted almonds that was served to balance the mini burgers and wraps that they had brought. Then came the oysters that many chose not to eat for bad experiences in the past, not being the biggest fan I ended up eating about five. Then came the main course pork with migas (bread crumbs cooked with garlic), by now we were all thinking about dessert but made an effort to finish it because the dish deserved it. When the dessert arrived we had a bit of a disappointment, it was a fruit dish basically with a scoop of cottage cheese and I know it's the simple things in life where we can find the best in the world but after an elaborate description on the menu they brought four different fruits ... just that. We stayed for a drink and I could not tell the average price because it was a company event, for me is an experience to repeat mainly to be on the terrace overlooking Lisbon.
