Also a secret passage connecting the Vatican was used when the Pope needed protection and it was used as a prison.
We arrived after to the Cortile Alessandro VI also known as the Cortile del Pozo because of the fountain that we can see on the patio and it was renovated in 1501. Also on that site is a sculpture of Raffaello Montelupo representing the Archangel that was actually placed on top of the castle where today is another bronze statue by Verschaffelt.
Visited some rooms used by various Popes who passed by here where we highlight the incredible fresh that we can see the ceiling.

Another attraction of the castle is a cozy café with terrace providing an experience very romantic overlooking the city of Rome.
The view over the Vatican is panoramic and we can see the dome of the Basilica of S. Peter.

A little curiosity throughout the castle we see busts of important figures exposed but this more than any other caught our attention: was it an inspiration for Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter?
