Vínhamos do Hotel du Ville em direcção ao Centre Pompidou quando entrámos na simpática rua pedestre de S. Martin. Estávamos já na hora do almoço por isso decidimos sentar-nos num dos seus restaurantes e escolhemos o Sous-Rire.
Ficámos sentado na agradável esplanada e á hora do almoço tinha um menú do dia.
We came from the Hotel du Ville and were headed to the Centre Pompidou when we stepped into S. Martin a nice pedestrian street. It was lunch time so we decided to seat down in one of it's restaurants and we chose the Sous-Rire.
We sat down in it's pleasant terrace and they had a lunch menu.
Segundo percebemos era um antigo bar de vinhos transformado agora em restaurante e a sua decoração mantinha-se fiel a esse espírito, era um pouco pesada mas claramente muito típica do século XIX francês.
From what we know it was an old wine bar transformed into a restaurant but it's decoration was still loyal to that spirit, it was a bit heavy but clearly into the typical french style of the XIX century.
Eu pedi um gratinado de tomate e queijo chèvre, enquanto o marido pediu um bife do lombo. A comida era de qualidade razoável mas as porções eram pequenas ajustadas ao preço de um menu do dia. Se há algo de que nos podemos queixar foi do tempo que demoraram a servir. Tínhamos "pressa" para ver a cidade e eles demoraram mais que o normal.
I ordered a grated tomato and chèvre, while my husband ordered a sirloin steak. The food was of reasonable quality but the portions were small adjusted to the price of a daily menu. If there is anything that we can complain about was the time it took to serve. We were in a "rush" to see the city and they took longer than normal.

Ainda assim a sua esplanada é convidativa o suficiente para colmatar a espera, vimos que alguns dos locais aproveitavam para ler o seu jornal ou um livro, talvez a espera seja algo mais cultural não sei dizer, de qualquer forma o outro restaurante em frente tinha igualmente bom aspecto o que seguramente fará da Rue de St. Martin um bom sitio para parar e provar os sabores da culinária francesa a preços razoáveis.
Still its terrace is inviting enough to fill the waiting, we saw that some of the locals took the opportunity to read the newspaper or a book, perhaps waiting is something more cultural can not tell, either way the other restaurant across the street also looked good that will surely make of Rue St. Martin a good place to stop and taste the flavors of French cuisine at reasonable prices.
