We had passed this street before when we went to have brunch at the Revoltosa in the neighborhood of Chueca and decided to give it a try today. It is clear that we forgot it and in a blog I saw yesterday there were some pictures that led me to the website of photographer Bruno Rascão and the video he made about this Portuguese restaurant in the Spanish capital.

Since August we don't go to Portugal and we miss our food as well as our family. Still we were resisting the Portuguese restaurants in Madrid because almost all are actually very expensive but we tried this one and although it was not cheap we ate very well. It started by a welcome given by Filipe, we sat down and shortly after we had bread, butter, olives, Portuguese cheese with pumpkin jelly and a green wine bottle of Muralhas de Monção. For starters we ordered fried cod cakes ("pataniscas") that were great with some modern touches but the flavor was very good.
Then we asked for some cod with bread crumbles ("Bacalhau com Broa") despite the fact that in the picture you can see the bread so dark of the toasting process it was actually excellent, smooth and soft as it should be with the crunchy bread on top to enhance the flavor accompanied with roasted potatoes and apple chutney. We also ordered Octupus á "Lagareiro" (it is grilled with an abudant amount of olive oil hence the Lagareiro name), came served in the same dynamics as the cod and was as they say: "to die for."

For dessert we ordered a custard (portuguese: Leite Creme) that was really like crema Catalana and it became the only low point of the they as we preferer our version. But to save the day the "Ovos moles" (made with egg yolks and sugar) from Aveiro that were really tempting. This is one of those restaurants we would undoubtedly repeat finally we have a place to relive memories of our food.
