Os planos de este fim de semana incluiam um almoço com amigos em Torrecaballeros no restaurante La Portada del Mediodia com mesa reservada e cordeiro encomendado. Aproveitámos a viagem de uma hora a partir de nossa casa para visitar algum castelo nos arredores e fazer uma caça ao tesouro que encontrámos no Castelo de Turégano a uns vinte cinco minutos do restaurante.
Por fora La Portada parece pequeno mas uma vez lá dentro é um mundo com várias salas de decoração rústica, vigas de madeira nos tectos e com um sotão muito agradável.
The plans for this weekend included a lunch with friends in Torrecaballeros at La Portada del Mediodia with reserved table and ordered lamb. We took advantage of the one hour trip from our home to visit a castle around this area and do a treasure hunt that we found in the Castle Turégano about twenty five minutes from the restaurant.
From the outside La Portada looks small but once inside there is a world of several rooms with a rustic décor , wooden beams on the ceilings and a very nice loft.

Na zona o que mais se vê são restaurantes de "horno a leña" com especialidades como o cabrito, o cordeiro e o leitão. Enquanto esperávamos os nossos amigos pediram "picadillo de matanza" (de porco) com batatas e ovo e também um frango a "ajillo" com pimentos assados. Tudo óptimo.
Depois veio o parto principal que era o cordeiro assado no forno, de excelente qualidade (e eu não sou a maior apreciadora de cordeiro). Não sei como mas alguns de nós ainda teve espaço para sobremesa, eu pedi um Vulcão de chocolate que infelizmente veio um pouco mais passado o que significa que ao abrir não saiu chocolate derretido e faltou algo que lhe cortasse o sabor intenso, talvez umas natas ou uma bola de gelado. Com o café vieram também uns bolinhos da região.
In the area you see that most restaurants are of "horno the leña" (wooden oven) with specialties like goat, lamb and suckling pig. While we waited our friends ordered the "picadillo de matanza" (pork) with potatoes and egg and also a chicken "ajillo" with roasted peppers. Everything was fine.
Then came the main dish that was the roast lamb, excellent quality (and I'm not the biggest admirer of lamb). Do not know how but some of us still had room for dessert, I ordered a chocolate volcano which unfortunately came a little done which means that while opening it did not had the melted chocolate and missed something that would cut the intense flavor, maybe a cream or a scoop of ice cream. With coffee came cakes from the region.

No final a conta foi um pouco dolorosa, foi dos restaurantes mais caros onde comi e creio que foi responsabilidade nossa principalmente na parte das entradas que não eram baratas. O almoço começou ás três da tarde e só nos fomos embora ás seis.
Ao sair reparámos nas imensas fotos de gente famosa que por ali passou, incluindo membros da familia real como o Rei Juan Carlos e o Principe Felipe.
