The Central Park was one of the places we really wanted to see in New York, scenes from movies and series running through my head and I wanted to go through these places that you think are so familiar. To do this visit we decided to rent some bikes (we rented at Liberty Bicycles - http://libertybikesny.com/ ) to get to know the park in one morning, no doubt it was an ambitious plan and it took us two and a half hours.
The bike was a good experience but brought some limitations because there is a specific road for riding them and can not (in theory) enter in the paths that best allow you to know the most interesting corners of the park, on these occasions we took the bike by hand. I have so much to say about Central Park that I think I might needed three posts, I'll talk about my favorite places. The first was the area of the Literary Walk and the famous Mall surrounded with trees, in the first are the statues of Shakespeare, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Burns. We passed two lakes until we reached the large reservoir dedicated to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis where with luck (and a visit at the first hour) you can see a famous person jogging around it.
Although quite busy I enjoyed seeing the statue of Alice in Wonderland where children can and should interact with it. In addition to the large lawns where we saw the New Yorkers to enjoying the good weather, we liked the small gardens that create a different space as the Shakespeare Garden, one of our favorite places in Central Park.
The views from the Belvedere are a must and then we made sure to go to the Strawberry Fields to see the monument dedicated to John Lennon.
