A chuva e um erro na nossa app do Trip Advisor fez-nos chegar até ao The Meatball shop, sim...existe um paraíso de almôndegas. A primeira coisa que me fez sentir "em casa" foi a decoração retro, num ambiente acolhedor onde fomos muito bem recebidos desde o primeiro minuto e podemos comer almôndegas de todas as maneiras: num ninho de esparguete, numa sandes ou sozinhas com outro tipo de acompanhamento á parte.
The rain and a mistake in our app from Trip Advisor made us reach The Meatball Shop, yes ... there is a haven of meatballs. The first thing that made me feel "at home" was the retro decor, a cozy environment where we were made very welcome from the first minute and we can eat meatballsin every posible way: in a nest of spaghetti, a sandwich or alone with somethin on the side.
Os empregados eram muito simpáticos e trocámos alguns dedos conversa com um deles que era francês, perguntou de onde éramos e o futebol foi o catalizador. O primeiro que fazem é explicar-te como funciona, nós optámos pelas Naked Balls, escolhemos a qualidade da carne, depois o molho e o acompanhamento. Eu escolhi com molho de natas e parmesão (parmesan cream) acompanhando com o risotto do dia que era de legumes e um pão Focaccia. Adorei a comida, são tenras e suculentas, o molho estava perfeito e o risotto completava muito bem o prato. Não sendo a escolha mais óbvia foi uma excelente combinação.
Para sobremesa comi o icecream sandwich com uma bola de gelado de hortelã (mint) e duas cookies de chocolate. A comida estava perfeita e foi um dos meus restaurantes preferidos de Nova Iorque, só faltou perguntar-lhes quando abrem um em Madrid ou Lisboa.
The employees were very friendly and we exchanged a good conversation with one of them who was French, asked where we were from and football was the catalyst. The first thing they do is to explain to you is how it works, we opted for the Naked Balls, choose the quality of the meat, then sauce and the side. I chose the parmesan cream sauce with a risotto of the day (with vegetables) as a side and focaccia bread. Loved the food, it was tender and juicy, the sauce was perfect and the risotto complemented the dish very well. Not the most obvious choice but it was an excellent combination.
For dessert I had the icecream sandwich with a scoop of mint ice cream and two chocolate chip cookies. The food was perfect and it was one of my favorite restaurants in New York, I forgot to ask when they would open one in Madrid or Lisbon.
