The Taberna Real was the first of our Madrid Food Tour, had passed by it many times and had never been, it is interesting as to be in tourist áreas you think you will fall into a trap and could even be if you order a dish that is not its most recommended, but here is where you can live Madrid's passion for Vermú and a good jamón of bellota. It is not as old as it seems because it opened in 1997 but the gastronomic tradition runs through the veins of the family of Doña Delicious Rivera and Don Salvino Pardellas.

Will go down in history as the first tavern where I tasted the famous Vermouth, which is part of the Sunday tradition to work up an appetite before lunch. Accompanying it a plate of chips and one with Campo Real olives. But the real reason we were there was to taste the ham, the famous jamón bellota of Joselito considered the best in the world and therefore the most expensive. Was cut perfectly with the respect it deserves and it was quite tasty, it was accompanied by salted almonds and the classic bread with tomato. We were not sure how much it cost and doing some research I found some critics who say that Taberna Real is guilty for its high prices but was part of our tour and it had a lot of charm.
