In London we have to eat Fish & Chips and say the best is the Poppies, awards and accolades recommend it. We are not experts in the field or we weren't tasting all of the city but it was certainly the best we eat in this on in Spitalfields, with a juicy fish wrapped in crispy fried batter with servings for people that must be very hungry. Also the Poppies has history, was founded by Pop Newland in 1952 exactly in this neighborhood at a time when London was still recovering from World War II.

The décor recalls that time of opening, the 50's with employees dressed to the occasion and even traditional juke box that is no shortage in this type of restaurants, yet all very sober without a fuss. The two main options are the Cod and Haddock (Haddock or Haddock), we ordered the regular costing 11 pounds each and was quite generous, I believe that would have been wise to ask for a big one for two that would even be cheaper (15 libras). Each asked for a different fish, cod was mine and was fatter, the haddock was longer and thinner. But they were great.
We also ordered a delicious bread and butter which can also be a typical side to the Fish & Chips, there was little stomach for it and can not even order dessert. Aside from one or another spark with the service it was a nice lunch, the Poppies have Take Away and was surprising customers serving the chips in a paper that mimicked the newspaper as was the tradition.
