Ao preparar a nossa viagem estive a ver que musicais estavam na Broadway e o Pippin foi o que chamou a minha atenção. Ganhou em 2013 o Tony Award para o melhor Revival porque o espectáculo original é de 1972/73. A história baseia-se em personagens reais uma vez que retrata o reinado de Carlos Magno e o seu filho Pippin é a personagem principal que luta entre o dever e a vontade de deixar a sua marca no mundo, foi escrita por Roger O. Hirson e foi um espectáculo bastante divertido, com muita emoção.

Começa com o Leading Player que no revival é uma mulher mas no original foi um homem (que ganhou um Tony na altura pela sua interpretação) e com ela está um grupo de talentosos actores-acrobatas-bailarinos, o reino é um circo e as algumas acrobacias deixam-nos de boca aberta principalmente por ser um palco relativamente pequeno. É neste entorno que vamos vivendo a aventura de Pippin com algum drama á mistura, com a guerra, o amor e as decisões da vida.
Estava no Music Box quando o fomos ver e comprámos os bilhetes por $87 cada um no TKTS Booth que está na Times Square, sairam mais baratos por dois motivos: um por ser last-minute e o outro por ser na sessão da tarde.
Begins with the Leading Player that in the revival is played by a woman but in the original it was a man (who won a Tony for his performance at the time) and with her there is a talented group of actors, acrobats, dancers, the kingdom is a circus and some stunts leave us gaping especially for being a relatively small stage. It is in this environment that we experience the adventures of Pippin with some drama in between, with war, love and life decisions.
It was at the Music Box when we see and we purchased tickets for $87 each at the TKTS Booth standing in Times Square, came out cheaper for two reasons: one to it was last-minute and the other to because it was the afternoon session.
